In 2021 I had not touched a LEGO brick in over 20 years.
My last known creation was probably a car with no roof and four steering wheels. It was revolutionary (no one liked it).
Since then, life got louder. Busier. More ‘grown-up.’
I was pulled out of retirement in 2022 when I got cast on LEGO Masters, probably because they sensed I had the exact kind of vibe that might visibly unravel on camera. I didn’t win anything, but I did learn a lot. And then, I suppose, I simply didn’t stop. No matter if the ideas were weird, unmarketable, or structurally illegal. I kept building for some reason.
Eventually, I made something that didn’t collapse under its own weight and entered it into the LEGO Ideas x LEGO House intake challenge.
And for reasons that are still under investigation, it got selected.
So I packed it up, shipped it from Australia to Denmark; and then: I flew across the world, walked into the LEGO House in Billund, and there it was. My creation, sitting in the Green Zone. Between actual geniuses. Proper builders who actually know how to build a triangle without looking at
@brothersbrickofficial archives.
Not front and centre. Not the biggest or the boldest. But it was there.
So from nothing in 2021… to a display in LEGO House in 2024; if you need a moral from the story, maybe it’s this:
Make stuff.
Even if it’s dumb. Even if you’re bad at it, like I am.
Even if the world is crumbling and joy can feel kinda rare.
Sometimes it leads you to Denmark.
Sometimes you get a nameplate and museum lighting.
