[BRICK WITH A BEER] This is a special brick painting I made in collaboration with @brickwith , now available at brickwith.com. I call it “brick with a beer”. [A BEER AND A BABY GIRL] The inspiration dates back quite a few years. One day I saw a framed photo at a friend’s place: he was enjoying a beer, with his infant daughter resting calmly in his arm. Of course he wasn’t serious about this random babysitting idea, but I loved the playful message. [A BAD LUCK AND AN INVITATION] A coffee and a laptop seemed like a safer match, until one morning I accidentally knocked over my cup. Coffee poured all over the keyboard. I had to send my laptop in for full repair, during which I unexpectedly received a MOC design invitation. [A SKETCH AND A CONVERSATION] The invitation came from a new friend Sherry, who was running Webrick. Since I had no access to a computer, I could only send over a very simple sketch of the visual idea. Maybe the sketch was too rough to move the project forward, but we somehow started a new conversation on brick supply in general, where I shared a lot of my complaints and expectations. [A PROJECT AND A VISION] Not long after, Gobricks, the manufacturer, acquired Webrick. With the backing of mass production, Webrick suddenly had the chance to grow into something much bigger. Around that time, I received another message from Sherry, inviting me to join her in a new project @brickwith , to step-by-step turn what we have visioned into reality. [BRICK WITH A BEER] Today, the first stage of this project is finally live. To celebrate the launch, I was invited to contribute an exclusive design under the open-ended theme “brick with __”. The photo in my friend’s place immediately came back to mind. Having a beer while playing with toy bricks carries the similar feeling: slightly unusual, but strangely fun. [Autumn Cottage 🍂] In 2025, I was among several designers invited by Gobricks to create a model to pilot the launch of the @brickwith platform under their Brickwith+ program, and the theme I chose was "Brick with autumn colors". I wanted to make something inspired by fairytale/storybook illustrations and could not resist making another house. 🤣 It was a fun challenge to see how far I could go just using warm, earthy colors and subtle tones while keeping the design tight and readable. The Brickwith parts palette in Stud.io was really cool to work with! There's a ridiculous amount of recolors to chose from, manufactured directly by Gobricks, which allowed me to put all of my focus on designing without worrying about rare or unavailable part colors. I was thinking about quiet moments; the kind of peace you only get when you’re focused on something simple. Fishing felt right. It’s patient, and a bit mysterious too. You don’t know what’s under the water, and I liked the idea of putting a few fun surprises under there (it was very important to me that I put a mini SpongeBob and Patrick in the build). The model is made up of 520 pieces across 194 elements, designed as a shelf-friendly, display piece. Honestly, having access to the Brickwith palette was one of the most exciting parts of this build. The LEGO system has very few transparent blue tiles and panels, so suddenly having a whole range of recolours to play with was incredible. It was kind of why I chose a water scene! I tried to use as much as possible, mixing non-system shades to make the water feel alive. 🚗✨Brick with a workshop spirit: My Garage. • 💡I designed it based on how I envision a garage, with a overall messy and eclectic style. I wanted to highlight the realistic, lived-in feel of the creation. The interior is packed with building details, and it can be rearranged and combined in different ways according to your preferences. I paired the garage with a retro car, which I think better brings out the old-school vibe of the set. • 🧱With the Brickwith+ @brickwith program, designers can share their creations with the community, powered by the Gobrick catalog. Builders receive everything needed to assemble unique and original MOCS. • 👉100% created using the Brick with parts library in Studio. • The Brick with platform provides a part palette tool, which can be easily imported into Studio as instructed. • The parts come in a rich selection of colors, and the submenu for each part directly displays the available colors. 🎨 • When you select certain primary exterior parts and open the color filter, Studio will show how many colors are available. • The convenience of the part palette tool. 🔥 • As long as the design stays within the Brick with parts library, the creation will always be available. Even if some parts are out of stock, the factory will arrange production after you place an order. • If you create with the Brick with parts library, the instructions can be uploaded to Rebrickable, and the parts list can be uploaded to Brick with. This is the R1-Mantaray, a sleek and speedy single pilot fighter and the first in a new line of animal themed spaceships. But this one is a bit different. Last year I was invited to collaborate with Gobricks under their new ‘Brick With’ theme. My brief was to create an exclusive model to accompany the launch of their new Brickwith platform. It needed to be within a certain piece count and buildable by all ages. The ship is 100% created using the Brickwith parts palette and builders can get all the parts directly from their website.
