Hi everyone, for the last couple of years I've been working on a new book called Building LEGO Worlds! It has loads of instructions for all kinds of models from landscapes to buildings to transportation. It comes out this August, and includes a free e-book with instructions for building an entire city! Check out the link in my bio for more...

I love how Art Deco architecture feels both historical and futuristic at the same time. You can't quite place what era you're in, so you can imagine your own time and place. It’s a style that values the extra effort of beauty and craftsmanship, and it makes you feel taken care of in its presence. As Winston Churchill said, “We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us.” It’s the same thing with shaping LEGO bricks.
I hope you’re all off to a great start in 2026! Swipe to see a behind-the-scenes video.

It’s kind of hidden now that the supporting scene is built, but this model began with the vision of a huge golden bell hanging from a rocky arch.
If you don’t mind wonky videos, swipe to see a rough behind-the-scenes look at the making of this model. It took 2-3 weeks to complete.
Here’s roughly how the time broke down:
🔹 10% looking for parts
🔹 10% ordering new parts from Bricklink
🔹 10% testing parts that don’t quite work out
🔹 10% imagining new parts
🔹 10% rebuilding entire sections when new parts arrive
🔹 50% staring at the unfinished model, hoping it assembles itself😂

Minifigures are Godzilla-sized giants in a microscale scene, so my collection—displayed like the artworks they are—has mostly been gathering dust. I’ve been enjoying the growing popularity of LEGO habitats (8×8 minifig dioramas) and decided to join the fun. The confined space feels a lot like building microscale: every single piece matters in these LEGO haikus. Let me know what you think!

You can tell a lot about a society by how it imagines the future. These days cyberpunk dystopias are popular, along with post-pandemic apocalypses. We should probably be concerned that both of these settings are often overpopulated with overly zealous zombies!🧟♀️🧟♂️
Dystopian futures are compelling worlds to visit in games and movies, but maybe not so much in real life.
Luckily, a fringe element of pop culture offers hope in the form of Solarpunk. Solarpunk cities are gleaming high-tech utopias that always seem to be within humanity’s reach, but we never quite get there.
If Solarpunk utopias are eventually made, I’m sure LEGO will be involved in the planning. Swipe for instructions to start your own city!

Sometimes a single LEGO piece inspires an entire city. In this case, it happened in reverse. I built this cyberpunk city a few years ago—long before LEGO element 65416 (usually a motorcycle brake disc) fell into my hands. It feels like the part was made for it. I dusted and refreshed the city to accommodate its new centerpiece.
And since LEGO builds are never really finished, I also gave a small update to the Roman city sitting beside its cyberpunk counterpart on the shelf. One city rises to imperial greatness. The other slips into an atmospheric dystopia.

This build began as an illustration for the Plant Kingdom chapter in my upcoming book, which showcases flora both wild and tamed. Toward the end of creating this formal garden, I decided to add a simple castle to give the scene some height. As often happens, the “simple” castle grew more complex and ended up taking much longer to design than the garden itself!😂
Swipe and you’ll find instructions for the very simple and highly customizable boxwood hedge, which makes use of tiles in the newish bright green color.

Something stirs beneath the surface…
It’s been quiet around here, as I’ve been deep in the bricks working on my next LEGO book! It’s packed with all-new builds that can be combined to create your own LEGO world—scenery, foliage, streetscaping, vehicles, and buildings of all kinds.
I’ll be coming up for air more often in the coming days to share images from the book (still untitled). Thanks so much for your patience! I’m not exactly a speed builder.😂

I've been experimenting with microscale pirate galleons to figure out if striped sails are possible on a ship that's built on a 1 x 6 plate. The ship in this build is the best result so far. The sails are a bit blocky in a Minecraft way, but that's not necessarily a bad thing in LEGO.
I originally added the new ship to a 20 x 20 stud pirate village from a couple of years ago, but it was too big for the scene. This village is a remodel of the older one, now on a 23 x 23 base.

I hope we’re still within the window for New Year’s greetings because I want to wish you all an amazing 2025! Rome wasn’t built in a day, and the construction of this mountainous micro city also felt like it took eons. While there aren’t any particularly complex or innovative techniques in play, it took many rebuilds to harmonize the architecture and waterways. The key LEGO element is the relatively new jumper arch.
Video game architecture is a big influence on my builds, going all the way back to SimCity 2000. If you’ve ever played Monument Valley, you’ll spot its influence here. And more subtly, you might see some inspiration from Gerudo Town in Breath of the Wild. I hope you have fun exploring this tiny world!

This city’s buildings were used in a stop-motion animation a while back. They have since been floating around my workspace, occasionally picked at for parts. Before it was too late, I gave the buildings a repair job and a dignified home on this 40 x 40 base. On an Instagram post the construction details get a bit lost at this scale, but the large size is great for viewing in real life. Swipe for instructions on how to make the smaller building on the far left.
Also, a big welcome to all of my new followers! I’m not always sure how this happens, but I always appreciate your interest in the finicky world of LEGO microscale.

I’m seeking your thoughts on a conundrum that has tied me in knots…while waiting for a Bricklink shipment I recently rebuilt this Studio Ghibli inspired scene on a slightly larger base. It’s 24 x 24 versus the original 20 x 20. You can swipe to see the original. I’m wondering if you prefer the new larger build, the original build, or see no discernible difference. Thank you!
