I went to Christchurch in 2013. After a look around the former Sons&Co studio in the ‘burbs, Matt and Tim took to me to a bar outside a bus in the Red Zone. This is the article from Studio Magazine about that conversation. I read it again this evening, it’s actually really good. I think Matt said so too.

Loved seeing my selected entry for @typehere.aotearoa in the gallery. The theme this year was ‘Kiwi Culchur’. My response was to overlay the letters from the last paragraph within the epilogue of Te Rangihīroas (Sir Peter Buck) book, ‘The coming of the Māori’ published in 1949.
It reads ‘And to the present generations and the generations yet unborn, I give this simple yet heartfelt greeting, A happy blending.’
The typeface was developed for the student accomodation building designed by Jasmax in Dunedin called Te Rangihīroa that is based on his unique back slanted handwriting. The script was designed with @aaaaahh.ron
Such a fun day with @typehere.aotearoa at their workshop hosted by @osborneshiwan and @hamish_childs alongside the @autcommdes team. So good to be surrounded by all the posters made for this years Type Here in the Te Wai Ngutu Kākā gallery at AUT well.
The workshop theme was ‘Kiwi Treats’. We all were given a letter and a treat to create a letter in the morning and then onto designing a poster of whatever we liked with the collected alphabet. I was happy with the ‘Fish’n’Chips’ uppercase E (or maybe it reads as a fish finger?). The word ladder poster turned out sweet too.
Will definitely be there again next year! ❤️
This is the blessing. Wearing a @canterburyofnz ugly shirt I brought as a secret Xmas gift. Because it’s a hidden gem of kiwi fashion. Mend and make do, it’s the bits and pieces of other things, you never know what you’ll get. The person standing next to me - is my true blessing. I know what I’ve got. Love you @phoebegwen and all you do.
The @agdadesignawards are special. It was a real privilege to be a judge in Adelaide a few years ago - then I met @phoebegwen properly in Canberra 2017.
So lovely to have our work recognised this year. ❤️
The Paper House got letters today.
Finishes the fence assignment with @langfordgates . Actually the whole project is now complete apart from notifying council our resource consent is closed out with the beautiful Puriri tree which was planted by Martin at @langford_scapes .
But the letters - these are by @monolith.nz who made Special Gothic for @special_group . It’s our house typeface, makes sense to put it on the fence. It’s the small details which matter.
