A massive thank you to Kelvin Stevens for organising group of local volunteers for clearing hundreds of kilograms of rubbish from Anna Maria Creek! š
With @cleanoceansailing rapid response vehicle Cecil, weāre now transporting piles of rotten fibreglass boats, tyres, metals, and dangerous chemicals polluting the river to the local recycling centreāpreventing further harm to our precious ecosystem.
But the mission isnāt overāhelp us clear all 166 abandoned boats before they poison our creeks forever! š¤ā»ļø

Net recovery this morning at Gwithian with us @ghostnetbusters and our friends @cleanoceansailing ⦠After this lot we left Steve and Ćla with @rnli and Jack and James fighting a horrid mooring rope as an additional bonus to this lot. Thanks @circularandco for storage for our 1/3 and for giving JKL the morning as volunteering time. Thanks in advance to @matt_hulland@odysseyinnovation@exetercouncil for recycling this back in to the #circulareconomy
Itās always a team effort and if anyone ever wants to come and help dm us you are very welcome.
One of our amazing #VoW partners - the wonderful @cleanoceansailing yet again hard at work as Guardians of the Riverscape removing abandoned boats from out beloved Helford River šIn this case, rain filled her up to a point where starboard bilge keel couldnāt support weight when tide out - keel collapsed and she sank at her mooring. @cleanoceansailing rescued her at the next tide with lift barrels and towed to slip way at Constantine quay. It is not just the boat, these wrecks are full of so many different materials and rubbish, many of which leach toxic substance into the River. Below is @cleanoceansailing data on just this one wreck, including details on the materials, removal and wreck disposal process and costs!
