'Night Scout' 2026 2-channel video installation, latex, metal, 2nd hand surgical instruments and cave exploration gear, with the composition 'Chronochromatic Variations III/ 1' by @laure.m.hiendl 3 x 6 x 6m currently on view in 'Vessel & Voyager' @akademiederkuenste curated by @claradius @linneameiners The installation explores the inner architecture of the human and the planetary body, seeking the limits of what’s knowable about these spaces. In cooperation with Vivantes Klinikum Friedrichshain Berlin, and @tumklinikum.rechtsderisar Munich, scenes for the videos were filmed inside patients’ torso and brain with endoscopic cameras before their surgeries began, other scenes at Dechenhöhle, a stalactite cave near Düsseldorf. The sculptural elements were made from second-hand surgical instruments, cave-climbing gear and metal, covered in layers of latex. The timescale seems to shift from human to geological deep time when exploring the inside of a body, Earth, deep space, or the deep sea, marking these spaces as essentially beyond human control and highlighting their close relatedness. Here, the human drive to expand the limits of knowledge blends with a childlike desire for adventure like in the early sci-fi movie 'Fantastic Voyage'. #installationart #videoart #fantasticvoyage #akademiederkünste #endoscopicsurgery

Visual identity for “Vessel & Voyager” by the JUNGE AKADEMIE @akademiederkuenste — from concept to space. We developed the design across multiple formats: large walls, glass surfaces, wall texts, and labels. The typography flows and distorts, filling the space with movement and tension. A big thank you to everyone involved for the trust, collaboration, and this special project. 🙏

Visual identity for “Vessel & Voyager” by the JUNGE AKADEMIE @akademiederkuenste — print, print, print. At the center are the printed materials: a booklet (german and english) featuring texts on all artists and their works, alongside flyers, posters, a glossary and the foyer wall design. Together, they create a visual framework for the exhibition and make its content accessible — accompanying visitors through different perspectives on memory and community. A big thank you to everyone involved for the trust, collaboration, and this special project. 🙏

VESSEL & VOYAGER Exhibition with 25 artists of the Young Academy 📆 13 March – 10 May 2026 📍 Akademie der Künste, Hanseatenweg 👉 Meet the artists of the exhibition – Part III In @hannguyenchi ’s film, viewing the sky as a “mirror and window” (John Berger) teaches us a new way of seeing. Where does one sky end and the next begin? (Photo by Thy Tran) In the poetic film work by artist @marina_naprushkina , her children read Le Guin’s text, „The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction“, in playful everyday scenes at the sunny seaside. What will the children’s utopias be? Choreographer and dancer @hrishikesh.pawar and dancers with Parkinson’s disease draw on their own bodies and muscle memory. In collaboration with @anikakrb.art , Pawar developed a poetic filmic portrait of this collaboration. (Photo by Aman Gupta) @sophieseita develops queer and graphical scores that negotiate potential stages and bodies, seek to render language tangible and suggest new scenes for reading and listening. (Photo by Laura Cobb) Applying a “cute” aesthetic, composer @saraloet reinterprets the relationship between humans and their legacy in the form of waste in an installation-based opera. (Photo by Max Niederer) Writer @diavonnak shares a series of audio meditations on the dilemmas of testimony and complicity – portrait sketches, soundscapes, and dreams from the war in Ukraine. (Photo by Botond Wertá) Choreographer @franziska_a_wenning explores which movements bodies have internalised over generations. In an ecofeminist choreography, she focuses on the sacred movement of kneeling. (Photo by Sebastian Wenning) The central motif of @hanayoo.oooo ’s new digital sculpture is fire – as a destructive consequence of climate change, and as political protest in the form of self-immolation. (photo by Miji Ih) Architect @zhunusai erects a Kyrgyz yurt in a new form in the Akademie’s Reed Garden, presenting a decolonial gesture of reclaiming lost cultural identity. (Photo by Alina Elkina) 📸 If not other mentioned, photos: courtesy of the artists _____ Curated by: @claradius @linneameiners Team: @_raphael.br & Marie Graftieaux Design by: @basics09

VESSEL & VOYAGER Exhibition with 25 artists of the Young Academy 📆 13 March – 10 May 2026 📍 Akademie der Künste, Hanseatenweg 10 👉 Meet the artists – Part II @superpumpkin3000 reflects on the possibilities of a material memory in art and asks: How can we remain connected in times of social upheaval? For the exhibition, she presents metal sculptures and assemblages (Photo: @baharkygsz ). In a new sculpture, @innercitylifeinnercitypress deals with bodies, their presence, their boundaries and their permeability in the context of fetish, darkrooms and alternative spaces in Berlin. @gruppe_aja explores how leftover materials can be integrated into ground patterns and for landscapes. For the exhibition, they created new “patterns of reuse” with granite. @thembinkosih15 layers images across multiple phases of photography until the motif becomes distorted or fragmented. He addresses questions of intergenerational trauma, but also personal grief. @dominique.hurth combines research on institutional exhibition practices in various archives with questions about gaps and violence using screen prints and copies of display cases. (Photo: Viktor Rosdahl) @jahanoir explores transgenerational storytelling by women in the rhythm of the Sufi myth of the “Dolphin Woman.” Can images, in times of global violence, still convey empathy? Through a series of collages representing collective and oral memory, @khensani_jurczok.deklerk provides insights into the untold stories of Black women in Zurich from the 1980s to the early 2000s. #renékemp transforms abstract concepts such as guilt and value into sculptural and pictorial forms that quietly yet resolutely occupy the space. @josephine_macken creates a dialogue between body and space in a dynamic installation featuring tapestry scores made of fibres, strings, ink and charcoal. VESSEL & VOYAGER Exhibition with 25 artists of the Young Academy 📆 13 March – 10 May 2026 📍 Akademie der Künste, Hanseatenweg 👉 Meet the artists of the exhibition – Part I @ilitazoulay gives new insight into the "Queendom" series and archive, first presented at the 59th Venice Biennale, together with a sound installation created in collaboration with the Palestinian healer Maisoun Karaman. (Photo: Billie Clarken) @patrizia_bach created hundreds of drawings that explored connections to “nature” and more-than-human life. Mythological ideas and ancestral knowledge form the foundation of her artistic explorations, which focus on the Serpentara Forest. (Photo: Erhan Arık) @fannybrandauer develops a sensual, sensory cartography that represents the tastes and stories of gardens and landscapes, which closely correlate to the gardens of the Akademie der Künste. (Photo: Nora Hollstein) Eva Dessecker has created an installation as a dense biographical weave of images, threads and stories. She deliberately evokes the image of the loom as an archetypal and mythical instrument of transformation. (Photo: Courtesy the artist) @andobrova & @yyyyyttvsq from @metalab.space have built a long wooden table with an embroidered quilt that extends through the length of the space symbolizing community, hope, and shelter. (Photos: Oleksandr Demianiv and Maria Gavrysh) @sarahdoerfel has developed a new two-channel video installation for which she filmed scenes of an operation with endoscopic cameras inside patients’ bodies. Presenting surgical instruments and equipment used for cave exploration, the installation shows the body as a landscape. (Photo: Courtesy the artist) @dusabejambo reflects on the possibilities of healing in community after the genocide in Rwanda. In an experimental documentary, the filmmaker depicts snapshots of a collective search for a way to come to terms with cultural identity. (Photo: Courtesy the artist) _____ Curated by: @claradius @linneameiners Team: @_raphael.br & Marie Graftieaux Design by: @basics09 Media partners: @arte.tv @berlinartlink @blnreview @fluxfm @kubaparis @bundeskultur @villamassimo.de @freunde_akademiederkuenste
