But if we are not here to show our true selves, to play, to experiment, and connect with others through all means—with creativity being a fantastic one—then what are we here for? Creativity is our greatest human asset, an abstraction that separates us from species that toil without self-reflection. The record channels childhood summers in the south of France — the glow of sunlight through shutters, the pulse of the sea, the drifting haze of long car rides home. A sound world where memory turns into texture, rhythm, and emotion. Already part of The amen break series, Circular Square brings a futuristic precision to breaks — a true cyborg of sound balancing the raw rave energy of the series. A really distinct artist in the dnb-ish world, Circular Square approached Chewlie’s Remix project for ‘Creature’ with these thoughts: “I was particularly drawn to a discrete sound in “Besch Oder Hesch”, a unique combination of percussion and a tuned element. This became the foundation for my remix’s main melody, intertwined with the original vocals. My goal was to create a dub-ish version while maintaining the song’s core identity, achieved by incorporating nearly all the original sounds and enhancing them with my personal sound design.”

Digital native Circular Square is fluent in the new #technologies that he masterfully uses to express himself. He combines 3D, VR and #computer music with old tools such as the #guitar, learned and unlearned ages ago, only to rediscover it again now. His productions are filled to the brim with ringing cuts, sharp coiling bends and biting #drums, skillfully elevated by his long experience as a trained #soundengineer. Circular Square lives on the fringes of late #drumandbass and deconstructed #ambient landscapes. Familiar and soothing at times, but also prone to challenge and surprise. Squaring the circle.

A few months ago, I chose to focus on music and sound as both an artist and a mastering engineer.
