Day 15 Had a much better day this week, personally, at OneStopFilms. Started off the day by checking over an ARRI LMB86 Mattebox with a coffee, before making my secret recipe brew of tea around 11am. Something which won Kieran over (and he’s a coffee drinker) so I’m officially a ☕️ 🧙; if that doesn’t get me trainee jobs I don’t know what will 😂. After that I got onto inspecting a set of tall and short legs from Ronford Baker, thanks Ivan for the photos, before going onto my lunch break. After lunch, I told of my secret tea recipe, and helped Roland prep a film job for an SR3 where I learnt about ground glass and coaxial magazines compared to non-coaxial; haven’t learnt to load a coaxial magazine yet but my first impression of it makes me think it’s a bit more fiddly aha. Then Kieran revealed his low budget solution to do better photography for new equipment, (if this post gets 20 Likes I’ll share what it is), and I inspected another Mattebox from a lens test. To top off the day I named my water bottle (with some left over tape from a check-in job, ad now it somehow feels complete haha) and shadowed Ivan while he was inspecting some lenses. ‘Till next time, see you next week! #camera #cameratrainee #camerarental #film #filmmaking #cinema #cameradepartment #onestopfilms

Day 13 Sometimes you have those days at work that remind you how lucky you are, and how hard effort pays off. In the morning did we not only have the man, the myth, the legend @starknadooo , but also his boy wonder accomplice, and all round nice man, @tomwatsun ; testing for their latest commercial it felt great to able to help them out with finding parts for their prep. In the morning I started out by having an impromptu CPD session by Roland on how to switch out the aspect ratio viewing cards, in a Zero Optik directors viewfinder. After that I went into checking in a LMB-25 Matte Box and cable wrangling up some new iec kettle cables we’d received; perfect opportunity to test out my wrangling skills, it was a very neat pile. Then before lunch, I shadowed Ivan as he changed a Sony Venice and Venice 2’s sensor. I helped screw it back into place, then it was time for lunch. After Lunch, and Montenegrin Coffee courtesy of @kieranhudson1 , I reassembled the case on the Venice; something I did many times for @_dynamicrentals_ so felt right at home. Then we tested out a GFM GF Primo, and of course I had to see if it could hold an 87 kilo camera trainee…in the name of Science 🤣. After that I rounded out the day by helping Roland clear out the Lens Test room, and by doing the LMB-25 Mattebox from that test. To alliterate from The Studio every good thing needs a Bookend 😂. Day 11 A Busy Business @onestopfilms is at the minute. Sweetpea was the talk of the house, and 3 Mills Studios, thanks to them prepping in our test rooms and shooting in the building. That meant it was an excuse to meet industry friends like Louise Murphy (@louisemurphy___ ) and Ravi @raviolee77 ), which was a really nice surprise. In the morning I was helping out Dre and Kieran (@kieranhudson1 ) with prepping a Nike job to go in a test room, which ended up being a room upstairs. So I had the opportunity to earn my heavy duty Magliner driving license; fair to say I still need the “L” plates 🤣. Just before lunch I had a bit of a weird moment, where I was feeling really lethargic and unproductive. With my radiotherapy recovery I’m still struggling with lifting weighty things, and I think I got in my own head while I was servicing a tripod. I still did a good thorough job, but my lunch break came in the nick of time in that respect. After my break, I jumped in with Margarida (@margaridagaspar_ ) on an @arri Alexa 35. And it was good fun to do some revision on that camera too (and practice my cable wrangling skills). Afterwards it was good to have a lil play with it, specifically finding out how to set user buttons and exploring their function was very cool. Getting refocused I jumped on another check out with Guy. Which led to me, Guy and Margarida working on the same job; which was good fun. After shadowing Margarida on a WCU-4, and having a riveting conversation about screwdrivers, Torx and Allen keys, I told everyone about my shadowing day at Leavesden on Friday with Danny Bishop (@dbizzle007 ). Unbelievable opportunity that, thank you to everyone who made it happen. It was great to meet the brilliant camera department behind it, to meet fellow shadowees like Mark Boggis (@markboggisdop ), and make a couple of connections. I love to do these posts about my days at OSF, but I hope I get to do more posts about being on set soon ✌️. Had the chance to be a Camera trainee on Mobland Episode 7 First time working on a set of this size, I’ve learned so much. I am also incredibly thankful for the amazing team I worked with, who were patient and taught me so much. Can’t wait for more learning experiences like this.
