Iāve been captivated by the Brandtās Cormorantās bright blue eyes that reflect the colors of the ocean itself! theyāre raising their young off the coast of San Diego right now, and their blue throat patches only appear during breeding season ššŖŗ

Weāre excited to share an incredible collaboration taking shape with Christine Lināa Taiwanese-American documentary filmmaker and Nat Geo Explorer bringing powerful storytelling to life across the Pacific.
Christine is developing a dynamic StoryMap project with usāblending photos, video, and interactive mapping into a living platform that connects communities in Taiwan and Palau. This work highlights the shared story of the Pacific through traditional voyaging, cultural knowledge, and ocean stewardship.
Her approach centers Indigenous voices and lived experienceācapturing not just where we travel, but why it matters.
If this resonates with youāwhether in storytelling, media, education, or ocean workāwe encourage you to reach out and be part of it.
Letās keep building this together.

when I first stepped foot on the Hokuleāa in san diego two years ago, I had this grand dream of learning about traditional voyaging and its seafaring connections to Taiwan and Austronesian roots. I never wouldāve imagined that now Iād be meeting the master navigator, Sesario, whose father taught them how to sail it.
life this past week included working with the members of the Micronesian Voyaging Society, participating in a filmmaking exchange between high school students from Palau and Taiwan, admiring bright blue clams underwater and getting covered in bug bites :)

looking back on photos I took from taiwan last year, including a rare moment for me eating with three generations of my motherās family under their home in hualien. as a typhoon and now tropical storm ravages the island and the philippines, as my grandmothers age, I see strength in a home destroyed and now rebuilt. šŖ·

we filmed this amazing scene about Indigenous archaeology with Kim Charlie, Bonnie Leno, and David Bustos to learn about the ancient fossilized footprints they found here with their team. it was such a pleasure to be a segment producer for this geology and deep time documentary series over the past year. stay tuned for the release on @pbs in the near future !

being a part of the @newfcommunity reminded me of why itās so important, especially as filmmakers and photographers and scientists, to never stop sharing our stories with each other. I think of all the joy and energy that week in Durban brought us and Iām so grateful for having been able to take a little bit of that with me back home ā¤ļøš
thank you to @noel_newf@pragnapk@insidenatgeo@merynomsa for inviting me to take part in discussions about mentorship in filmmaking, and also of course, the love of birds. the world is way overdue for more stories of Africa, told by African people. I canāt wait to see you all again!! šæš¦
