Spring cookbook season is in full swing, and among my favorite new cover designs is Modern Australian Baking by Christopher Thé. What sets this cover apart from several of this season’s other noteworthy baking books is not just its undeniable beauty, but the way it so strongly evokes a sense of place. This design is a celebration of Australian nationality, seasonality, and local ingredients, and reflects the sentiment that Thé proclaims in the very first line of his introduction: “This book is a love story to the only land I have known.” The latest Headnotes post guides readers through the cover—from the unique ingredients in the show-stopping Geraldton Wax Cheesecake, to the long afternoon shadows, to the Australian red earth color palette—while paying tribute to the talents of the creative team that brought it to life (link in bio).

Excited to share some of my images from Tammy Huynh’s fabulous new book, The Plant Book. For anyone who loves plants but struggles to keep them alive… 🙋🏻♀️
Tammy @leaf_an_impression creative director Megan @meganjpigott and I whizzed around multiple locations across Sydney over the course of a week of shooting- Tammy heavily pregnant, many plants and cats were wrangled- it was so much fun!
Thanks so much for having me on board @leaf_an_impression@meganjpigott@murdochbooks
Huge congratulations to Christopher Thé on the publication of his first cookbook!

Modern Australian Baking is about baking with a sense of place- deeply connected to the Australian climate and its unique native ingredients.
It was a joy to photograph this book at Chris’s home and to witness his incredible skill, knowledge and the care and sensitivity he brings to his food.
So proud to have been part of the team on this, alongside
