Kiln opening days in the home studio are always full of anticipation, but this one felt particularly special.
“Klee on Clay” has emerged from the kiln — a homage to Paul Klee, exploring surface, line, rhythm and colour through clay. Quietly playful, layered and painterly, it now begins its next journey towards the launch exhibition of the @rockandpapercollective at @jmgallerylondon , 8th–15th July.
There’s something magical about opening the kiln and finding a piece that feels as though it has finally become itself.

Kiln opening and this one feels special.
My second collaborative moon jar of the year—and I feel genuinely privileged to have worked with @francisbowyer . His mark-making has brought something quietly powerful to the surface of the pot. Do head over to his page and spend time with his paintings—they’re beautiful.
Alongside it, pots fresh from the kiln by @chiswickartschool students and @chiswickpots members—full of character and energy.

Opening the kiln door is always a moment — and this one didn’t disappoint. A beautiful mix of work fresh out of the firing from @chiswickartschool students and @chiswickpots members. Thoughtful forms, bold surfaces, and those quiet surprises that only reveal themselves once the kiln cools. This is why we do it.

Kiln opening and the first collaborative moon jar of the year — big, bold and full of life. This one’s made with @neerascreenprints , layered with pomegranate prints that have fired beautifully. Always that moment of relief (and excitement) opening the kiln and finding it’s all come together.
Alongside it, shelves full of work from @chiswickpots members and @chiswickartschool students — thoughtful, varied and genuinely beautiful.

Opening the door never gets old. That moment of heat, colour, and anticipation.
This firing is full of work from Chiswick Art School pottery students and ChiswickPots members—a real mix of steady throwing, more ambitious pieces, and the usual surprises.
Some glazes have landed beautifully—others have had their own ideas. A few pushed right to the edge… not all made it.
That’s the process. Make, risk, fire, learn, repeat.
More out of the kiln soon.

Rock & Paper Collective is made up of three members:
MEET ROZ
A quick introduction.
Roz is the ceramic voice behind Rock & Paper Collective.
A wheel-thrown potter, her work explores form, surface and the balance between control and unpredictability. From tactile functional ware to expressive moon jars, her pieces are grounded, instinctive and quietly bold.
Formerly a Consultant Nurse, she now works full-time as an artist and is the founder of the pottery department at @chiswickartschool and @chiswickpots studios, where she teaches and mentors a wide community of makers.
Her studio life is a balance of creating, firing, problem-solving and sharing knowledge—something she cares deeply about.

HARDER THAN IT LOOKS...
Who knew this path would be more challenging and time-consuming than we thought.
We began discussing our collective idea in a Tuesday Print class, learning and growing alongside others through @sally_grumbridge course.
As we navigated the frustrations of open calls, scarce opportunities to exhibit in prominent art events, and difficulties reaching a broader audience...we realised we needed a change our own direction and to take control.
Putting those ideas into action, has been a learning process!

Pleased to introduce myself as one of the artists behind @rockandpapercollective . Naturally, my favourite kind of portrait… slightly out of focus. Huge thanks to the wonderful @aniellaweinberger for her patience with a subject who’d much rather be behind the camera than in front of it — I love this shot.
