It’s quite an honor to write a story for the annual IGFA World Record Game Fishes Book. The IGFA is committed to the conservation of game fish around the world and the promotion of responsible angling. In this year’s book, I wrote a profile of Baja-based roosterfish guide Wes Brough @cabosurfcaster2 and mixed in findings from a recent roosterfish study. Catching a big Rooster from the beach is an angling goal I hope to achieve one day. Many thanks to @theigfa and the awesome team there for all the work they do. #fishing #writing
Top secret date night: family edition 😁 Our first @uflstorm game 🏈 Sadly Orlando’s not undefeated anymore, but it was a fun night and pretty easy-breezy for a pro sports event. Tix were cheap, seats were great, we even got free Ts on entry (Coop was NOT about to be left out, sizes be damned). Two more home games left in the season and would love to see the stands fill up a bit. Storm On!
Had an awesome time helping @searedwine and @starbrite_com@project_seasafe plant clams in the Indian River. Awesome to get my boys in the water and learn about the importance of conservation and habitat restoration. Last December @dennisfrielart invited me to go deep in the Everglades with him and @captainelmerpillon in search of tarpon. I had just been laid off and was in dire need of hitting the relief valve. This trip helped me in many ways. Support from friends and a reassurance in the power of nature and the pull of a tarpon. I wrote a short piece about the trip. Dinner on the Ave was legendary! Spent the night hanging with fun friends and dancing, delighting and lightly terrorizing a few strangers. And our gang of zombie hippies earned an honorable mention! Happy World Down Syndrome Day from me, my family and my son, Cooper! When Cooper was born, we were so terrified of what was ahead of us. Little did we know how much beauty and love it would bring into our lives. I’ve learned so much being a father of a child with Down syndrome. Patience is key, love is boundless, hugs are endless. Taking home three wins in this year’s @boating_writers_international awards felt extra special to me. Anglers Journal may no longer be in publication, but the impact of the storytelling lives on. My “Midstream in Montana” story won first place in the fishing category and the feature “Where the Sea Meets the Sky” I wrote about Ascension Bay in Mexico took third. I’m also extremely proud that the film I produced entitled Welaka: A Last Great Place won first in the video category. Congrats to all the BWI winners! And keep me in mind for any content needs. #mibs
