Team Star brite will be flying our flags at half-mast this week in mourning for our beloved Captain and friend, Kevin Cote. An irreplaceable part of our team, Kevin embodied qualities that we all strive to exhibit every day.
Words fall short in expressing the magnitude of this loss, not just for us at Star brite, but for the entire fishing community. Kevin's passion for the ocean and fishing was unparalleled, spanning from bass to bonefish to billfish. His reaction to each catch was consistently one of pure bliss. Anyone who met Kevin could attest to his unique ability to make you feel like long-time friends, even if you had just met.
We at Star brite will always honor Kevin's memory, wishing we could hear his trademark laugh just one more time. Though gone, he will never be forgotten. We love you and miss you already. Until we meet again, Cappy.
Today we remember the kind of person you don’t get twice in a lifetime….
Anyone who knew Kevin knows exactly what I mean. He was the funniest, most full of life person in every room. The kind of person whose energy hit you before he even said a word. His laugh was famous, to say the least. One of those unstoppable, contagious, almost wet your pants laughs that will always be a beacon for every happy moment we all shared.
The memories we all have with him… they’re loud, ridiculous, special, and so deeply ours. They aren’t just cherished, they’re sacred. They live in infamy, retold a thousand times and still never old. Every story ends with that laugh echoing in our heads and hearts.
One of my favorite words to describe him has always been “goofball,” in the most loving way possible. He was the one you called on a bad day because you knew he’d make you smile, even when you swore you didn’t have one left in you. He was the epitome of “don’t worry, live life, be happy.” It sounds simple, but he lived it in a way most people never do. Captain, skipper, fisherman, friend, son, brother, family… none of those titles even come close to explaining the impact he had on the people around him. He was more than all of that. He left a mark that doesn’t fade.
We’ll forever hold his memories close to our hearts. We’ll carry you always – in every sunrise on the water, every ridiculous joke that catches us off guard, in every line cast and fish caught, in every chance life gives us.
Until we meet again, Kev.

A few weeks back we got to be part of @tomrowlandpodcast@saltwater_experience event at @hawkscayresort , and this charter day was one of the highlights of the whole trip.
This whole experience was built for guys like us in the industry. Good people, good fishing, good conversations, and a reminder of why we all fell in love with this lifestyle in the first place.
We put some solid mangrove snapper in the boat, stuck a couple beautiful reds off the mangroves, and honestly just had one of those days you don’t forget.
