Thanks to everyone who stopped by during @dutchdesignweek 🤍 it was really special to present this work in an international context and see people engage with Spanish queer history and intergenerational memory; especially at a time that marks 50 years since the end of Spain’s dictatorship and the following Pact of Silence that whitewashed its crimes. The Quicklime Paradox addresses the historical and ongoing erasure of queer and trans* people, through quicklime - a caustic substance once used in enforced disappearances during Spain’s White Terror. The project transforms quicklime into a medium for remembrance and visibility through 2 artefacts: ‘Calados Hasta los Huesos’ is a self-whitewashing memorial that stages a slow cycle of corrosion and preservation through the chemical reactions of quicklime. ‘Under the Limelight’, revives 19th-century stagecraft to produce contemporary phantasmagoria, powered by a tactical limelight projector. hi! my handfans will be on display at @okay.space from tomorrow 17.07 - don’t miss the show if you happen to be in Athens or surroundings🌀 “Abanicle merges traditional abanico craftsmanship with Bionicle logic. Varillaje, país, clavillo. Departing from the Spanish abanico as a folk symbol of femininity and an extension of the body, Abanicle is a chimeric reinterpretation for bodies in flux.” 🍷great read on Bionicle on slide 7 by @nicanstett for @autostraddle IMAGINARIUM PARK: BIONICLE is a group-group show featuring 24 visual artists, both local and international, invited to explore the cybernetic and mythic world of BIONICLE through diverse and playful multidisciplinary responses. You’ve been here before. You just need to dig deeper. 🏰 thanks to @nssfabb @tileores

today, on trans visibility day we’d like to bring to the forefront the ongoing violence, disinformation and active erasure of trans people, through our gender* reveal* party* performed during @dutchdesignweek last october. Slicing through a curated menu of symbolic and edible cakes, the performance serves up a critical take on gender reveal rituals - exposing the ties between Western gender construction and the systemic violence against trans* and gender nonconforming people. concept, design & performance: @andy_xcv x @cdecardenas x @buonan_otti cis-temic babycake baked by @cakethingzzz photography: @violetitties @elna.aurand @dahm_91 @united.cowboys sound assistance: @phoebeeyyy #transvisibilityday #transrights

🫀Retrospective of Antidote a show about Andalucía 🫀I wanted to do a show that if a fellow andalusian happened to walk upon they would feel connected to. Globalization makes us think that the only queer history is anglosaxon and north american history. This is an introduction to queer andalusian icons and my drag inspirations with the invaluable help of fellow Andalusian designer @cdecardenas in charge of visuals and projections. Act 1. Pluma: “Tener pluma” is a common derogatory spanish expression directed to queer effeminate men. Miguel de Molina was an andalusian copla singer who performed under Franco’s dictatorship until he had to exile to Buenos Aires due to his homosexuality. He would get on that stage never knowing if that would be his last performance. I wanted to explore anxiety and paranoia using German expressionism and 20th century spanish theater. Act 2. Tierra “Earth/Dirt” was inspired by the most influential andalusian poet, Federico García Lorca. He died shot by Franco’s soldiers, for being queer and a socialist. His remains are until today unfound. I chose a poem from his play “Bodas de Sangre” , a tragedy about the restrictions of andalusian women. Next to my shibari professional and trusted friend @soft.sade and the good people from @dekoergent we got to hang me from the ceiling tied in bruising ropes. The themes through this performance were liberation through art while enduring pain. 3 Act. Veneno: Cristina Ortiz, La Veneno, iconic trans figure in andalusian history that made visible the trans collective in Spain during the 90s. Actress, sex worker, model, singer and legend. I wanted to bring the joy of andalusian queerness, never better represented that in La Veneno, starting with one of her interviews in andalusian tv. 4. Act. Martyrio: After three homages, I present the final result of these influences, Martyrio. I start as a feminine virgin in an altar carried by my followers where I transform myself in trans dark Jesus, i called this part self expression through catholic indoctrination. Thanks also to @the_gardener__ for this banger, to mis respetos! photo @chambrangphotography video recording of perfo @meiiosama
