Project completion!
Pleased to be part of yet another defect-free project delivered by @bwworkplaceexperts
A project that combined all things bespoke and structural from blackened steel finishes, a lift shaft, and a mirrored box feature.
We will be updating the website soon with the full story. The project included custom-made jigs as grinder attachments, alongside the use of plate preparation equipment supplied by @jeisolutions to use as finishing tooling.
Great to work with @bwworkplaceexperts yet again, alongside familiar faces at L+C Engineers who supported all the temporary works design, as well as new collaborations with the team at architects @hlwinternational

What’s happened in the past month:
A public-facing project opened, always a milestone seeing work out in the wild.
Major fabrication packages pushed through on demanding timelines.
Detailed design issued on a complex bridge structure design using sustainable reused steel stock.
Multiple projects moving from design into fabrication.
Live installations progressing on site across several locations.
Early stage schemes kicking off.
Collaboration continuing.
Delivered a CPD session, “Designed to be Made: Making and its Influence on Engineering and Design”, at @ahmmarchitects
Recognition received at a structural engineering awards.
Alongside that, we’ve opened fabrication-led sessions and supported architectural students on our next live build with @uniofreading
On to the next 🚀
Honoured to have contributed to the Queen Elizabeth Memorial Garden at Regent’s Park - a garden which opens this week, marking what would have been Her Majesty’s 100th year 👑
Our scope included the pergola, handrailing, viewing platform, jetty rail, and tower guttering. Working alongside architect @tateandco_ and within @htadesignllp landscape vision, the brief was deceptively simple, clean in form, with plenty of carefully considered details 🪴 🌹
We salvaged and made good of the steel from the original glasshouses, carried out hardness testing, and designed bespoke machined connections - all prepared to receive a high-end offsite applied finish by @bradleysmetalfinishers which meant installation had to be handled with real care 🏗️
The ironwork flowers on the viewing platform were hand-crafted by blacksmith @ian_thackray_blacksmith ⚙️Remarkable work 🤝
A tip of the hat to fellow makers @millimetremakes who delivered the bespoke timber benches, placed carefully around the park to provide contemplative resting places to view the garden 🪵🪑
This was a project of true collaboration, bringing history, engineering, landscape and craft together in memory of the late Queen 👑

We took a visit to the galvanisers this week to oversee the finishing process on a pavilion we’ve been working on. Given the scale and complexity of the piece, it was something we wanted to be a part of. We’re pretty chuffed with the way it’s turned out.
Now it’s back in the workshop for one last test assembly before it makes its way to Chelsea for this year’s RHS Flower Show.

Final finishes coming together on our latest timber staircase in central London 🪵
As this one nears completion, the next feature timber stair is already underway in the design office💡 ✏️
Better late than never… Pipe Up! a ceramic bench permanently installed on Albert Embankment in 2021, where the Potteries of London once manufactured sanitaryware.
It began as a live project at the @rca_soa and found its home after many tribulations and much perseverance... about 6 years later.
Drawing on Lambeth’s historic industry and London’s revolutionary approach to sanitation during the 19th century, the bench takes the form of a fragmented and decorated ceramic pipe, offering an unconventional vantage point to meet, sit, and ponder.
The terracotta tiles, manufactured by architectural ceramicists Darwen Terracotta and Faience, from models CNC-ed by us, are glazed and patterned in tribute to Victorian Lambeth pottery decoration.
Mixing digital fabrication, traditional craft and structural innovation with terracotta, the bench utilises ceramic’s structural properties by creating a self-supporting ceramic vault with lightweight steel footings.

A run of client reviews lately from last week’s pavilion progress visit to this week’s mock-up session on one of our largest projects to date 🪵 👀
Here’s the first glimpse…
A preview of this year’s Chelsea Flower Show 🌿 @the_rhs
Working with garden designer @harryholdingstudio and architects @michaelisboyd
It was great to have the team over to review progress on the soon to be pavilion 🦪 which will later be relocated to the @edenprojectcornwall Morecambe 🌊
Another year collaborating with our good friends at @lalandscapes who’ll be doing all the landscape and planting magic ✨ 🏗️
Final detailing coming together on another feature staircase 🪵
Having worked on this project since RIBA Stage 3, it’s great to see the final parts come together. It’s all one big jigsaw 🧩
From early sketches, piecing the structure into manageable components for installation, through to the final joinery 🏗️ ✏️
It’s handy having designers, engineers and makers all under one roof ⭐️
