📣 South East Galvanizers Supports the Blakemore Manor Osprey Trail
Late last year, an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at Blakemore Manor in Hertford marked the unveiling of a stunning Osprey sculpture trail, celebrating the opening of the new residential development.
Commissioned by Croudace Homes and designed by Charles Elliott Sculpture, the series reflects the Osprey’s life cycle, from nest to flight, symbolising freedom, resilience, and nature. Each sculpture was hand-crafted using 8mm steel bar, with every curve carefully shaped to capture movement in metal.
To ensure the artworks stand the test of time, the sculptures were hot dip galvanized by our plant, South East Galvanizers, providing long-lasting protection and a striking finish.
Spanning almost four years from concept to completion, the project is a fantastic example of collaboration, craftsmanship, and the power of public art to enrich communities for generations to come.

📣 Proud to Host the First BCSA Women’s Group Meeting at Worksop
Last week, our Worksop plant was proud to host the very first BCSA (British Constructional Steelwork Association) Women’s Group meeting.
The event provided a valuable opportunity for women across the steel industry to share experiences, perspectives, and ideas in a supportive and collaborative environment. We were also pleased to see representation from within Wedge Group Galvanizing, with our Marketing Manager, Claire Jones, being an active member of the group.
The day concluded with a tour of Worksop Galvanizing, which is home to the longest galvanizing bath in the UK.
A big thank you to everyone involved in organising such a valuable and inspiring event.

Meet Andy Harrison, Sales and Marketing Director at Wedge Group Galvanizing Ltd.
Andy joined Wedge Galvanizing Group in September 2017 as Director of Sales and Marketing. Since then, he’s been invited to the Board and now spends his days fulfilling his role of Sales and Marketing Director, setting the overarching objectives and strategies for the Group and helping to manage implementation of the same at plant level.
Andy said: “I am responsible for covering all sales and marketing aspects across the entire Wedge Group and the individual plants. My role varies from meeting with customers alongside our Commercial Managers, negotiating terms and conditions, helping to develop effective sales and marketing strategies, and attending events both here in the UK and overseas.
“My proudest wins at Wedge are in recognising talent and encouraging the development of others to achieve greatness. 📣‘Iridescent Omen’: Newby Hall Sculpture Preserved for the Future
North Yorkshire-based sculptor, Katie Ventress, has once again partnered with our plant, Humber Galvanizing Ltd to bring her latest creation to life, a striking stained glass and steel magpie sculpture, entitled Iridescent Omen.
Displayed at the Sculpture Trail at Newby Hall & Gardens, this 1.5m-wide piece combines delicate design with the strength of steel. By choosing hot-dip galvanizing, Katie has ensured the sculpture is fully protected against corrosion, safeguarding it from the elements and preserving it for years to come.
Katie said “Choosing galvanizing has not only safeguarded the steel but also enhanced the overall design, and I hope that visitors to Newby Hall enjoy experiencing the piece as much as I enjoyed creating it.”
