Have a download+help someone in need in the process 🦌🦌 After a gig of ours at @resource_mpls was disrupted this spring when a homeless encampment near the venue was evicted by the city, we cancelled that performance out of solidarity and respect for those neighbors -- it took hours for everyone who was displaced to pick themselves up and figure out where to go next and to account for what was lost. Our rescheduled performance at Resource became a small DIY fundraiser for @southsideharmreduction -- this cover recording is another small attempt at encouraging sustained awareness and sustained support for people in Minneapolis who are experiencing homelessness. People are not trash you can sweep up and away. All of us, whether we live in a car, a condo, a house, or a tent, are deserving of dignity and should be treated with respect. Dehumanizing people by sweeping encampments without first ensuring housing solutions are waiting -- this dehumanization ripples outward -- concentric circles of displacement, disinvestment, disappointment, and trauma. And the cycle repeats. Useless heartbreak after useless heartbreak. Please consider making a plan to carve out something from your bounty for the unhoused relatives near you.
