When I first pitched this story to @teenvogue , an estimated ~7,000 Palestinians had been killed in Gaza since Oct. 7. With each round of fact checks and edits, that number climbed, and climbed, and climbed. It has since tripled.
For a while now I have been less and less interested in what can be said about Palestine and much more interested in what can be done. I am immeasurably grateful to each of the activists I spoke to for this story, who have been putting their bodies on the line to show us what can be done.
There are long histories of worker solidarity and anti-war activism within the imperial core to learn from. We all have a role, as Lara Kiswani reminded me when we spoke. Find yours. Then play it.
