There aren’t any straight characters to speak of in @elliottuttle ’s future cult classic, “Blue Film.” The film follows a series of startling (and disturbingly) honest conversations between two queer characters with a shared past forced into an aberrant and unlikely intimacy. “There is a really pervasive feeling of loneliness and inadequacy that a lot of us [as gay men] feel but don’t often speak about,” Tuttle tells PAPER. “In that way, it feels very personal to me.” PAPER caught an advance screening of the film and sat down with the filmmaker to discuss one of the most auspicious, singular debuts in recent memory.
