Incredibly blessed and grateful to have the opportunity to spend my 30th birthday in South Africa a few weeks ago.
Scrolling through my camera roll to make this post, I realised that none of the content I made truly does Johannesburg, the incredible people I met, and the beautiful city, justice 😅
My first time visiting Africa was one I will never forget. South Africa I love you, and I can’t wait to return 🤩

Throwing back to November 2021 to my performance of 'Beyond the River' 🌊🎻✨
Beyond the River is a 45 minute semi-improvisational work by violinist Blaize Henry that explores the beauty, complexity and mystery of water, our human connection to it, and the power it wields as the source of life on Earth.
A site-specific work composed in response to the surrounding archive from the Brow of a God / Jaw of a Devil exhibition at Orleans House Gallery in November 2021, Beyond the River adds an alternative lens to view and experience the archive rooted in reclamation, spiritual healing and defiance.

Still completely in awe that I was able to attend an event like this that was a true celebration of black excellence. To be in the presence of the incredible leading actors of this all-black ensemble cast was an experience I’ll never forget.

‘Nigredo, A Decomposition’ is a new durational work based on ritual and repetition.

The work and name are both an allusion to and word play on the nigredo period of alchemy. Referencing the state of blackness, putrefaction and decomposition crucial to the turning of base materials into gold.
