Very excited that the amazing @weirdo_wonderland_ct invited Blacksmith Press to be a special guest at Weirdo Wonderland’s Creepy Pop-Up Market Saturday May 16! It’ll be a great chance to see in person and score some of our flocked blacklight screenprints… as well as other collaborative prints and more! Should be fun. Hope to see you there! I don’t really have words for how the Planet Haig exhibition at @cccgalleries turned out. Maybe “exceeded my expectations” and “overdelivered” can begin to express my week at Carroll Community College in Westminster, MD. But it was much more than that. For one thing, it was a surprise to be reminded of how many amazing collaborators I’ve had over the years. Hopefully pictures will be able to convey something of the top notch experience created by Gallery Curator and Director of Visual Arts @jessihardesty Here’s a quick run-through of the gallery. There will be more posts and still pictures coming, whether you want them or not.

This is a BIG ONE for me. Lots of collaborators, lots of work never shown together before, and some work never before seen by human eyes. Opening reception is next Thursday 2.26 from 4-7. I’ll be there but I don’t expect you will. Unless you’re in Westminster, MD. Many thanks to @jessihardesty , curator of The Gallery in the Scott Center, for the opportunity and for this explanation of the scope of the show: “Showcasing over 30 years of interdisciplinary artmaking, Planet Haig is an unabashed exploration and exaltation of Haig Demarjian’s many diverse pursuits in printmaking, drawing, painting, comics, film, and beyond. A classically trained printmaker and long-tenured Professor of Art + Design at Salem State University, Demarjian holds degrees from Middlebury College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His work, which often features movie monsters, references to earlier eras of art, and highly detailed, meticulous printmaking processes, has been featured in exhibitions and portfolios internationally. Frequently drawn to conceptual joint projects with other artists and creatives, Demarjian established Blacksmith Press in 2021 as a means of forging idiosyncratic artistic collaborations in printmaking and beyond.”

The opening reception was packed. @montserratgalleries did an exceptional job creating optimal lighting for @blacksmith_press blacklight work by @planethaig and @millerstrations — to see it in action swipe to slide 2.
