꩜ AdMa TYPP Launch ꩜ You are invited to the launch of the latest issue of TYPP, our AdMa research publication, on 11 February 2026 from 17:30-19:00.

Location: AdMa Room, K.03.09, third floor, Sint Lucas Antwerpen, Van Schoonbekestraat 143, 2018 Antwerpen
 ꩜
This issue’s framework came with such a flash during Eleftheria Tzirki’s mid-year presentation at Sint Lucas in early 2024. ‘Forever is Such a Small Word’ was a line from a poem Eleftheria had written and was reading to us during her presentation. There are different scales of time in practice-led research. As artists and designers, research can demand that we conceive of projects over much longer durations than many of us have been socialised, trained or secure enough to do (over years as opposed to the weeks or months of funding and exhibition-making cycles), while at the same time shifts and milestones in our research are often found in the muck of hour by hour, day by day. Our faith in both embodied presence and change depends on the micro, on the ‘diff’rence a day makes’. For this issue, ‘Forever is Such a Small Word’, AdMa participants were asked to imagine their research through the frame of a single day. It could be a day in the past, the present or the future, and their contribution could come in any publishable structure, voice, style or tempo. ‘Forever is Such a Small Word’ is a result of this process in the form of a collectively written diary spanning from 15 August 1995 to 13 April 2052.
Featuring contributions from Biyi Zhu, Kristí Fekete, Katy Drake, An-Marie Breem, Veronica Samuel, Nicolas Claessens, Eleftheria Tzirki, Yi Zhang, Anthe Hermans, Andrés Milán Lara and Saskia Van der Gucht. Designed by Joud Toamah, and edited by Marnie Slater, Petra Van Brabandt, Kim Gorus, Mona Hedayati and Joud Toamah.

INTERESTING EVENTS - SIMMERING CONNECTIONS BY @soup.as.fluid.archive We’re excited to share an invitation for 'Simmering Connections: Culinary Kinship in Action' a workshop and artistic research project by our dear friend @bitsray , taking place next week at Constant in Brussels. Next week Friday you can join her for a hands-on workshop hosted at Constant: A deep-autumn Cantonese soup-making session where cooking becomes a way of thinking, caring, and creating kinship. Through herbs, memory, and slow simmering, Biyi invites us to explore soup as a fluid archive, a place where culture, family, migration, and collective nourishment meet. Together we’ll touch, smell, taste, and experiment with Cantonese herbal soup traditions, using local ingredients and shared stories. Expect a warm afternoon of collective making, sensory knowledge, and conversations about food, care, and the relationships that sustain us human and more-than-human alike. --> Sign up by sending a mail to [email protected] 21 November (Friday) 14:30–17:30 Constant, Brussels Language: English Max. 15 participants Free – registration required (link in bio) Come simmer with us. :)) Organised by @bitsray @soup.as.fluid.archive Photos by @yochristineoy Design by @marta_meers

(for English please scroll down) How can a bowl of soup hold memories and emotions? Earlier, SOMEHOW collaborated with 1983 to co-host artist Biyi Zhu's event “Soup as Archive: A Soup Tasting Workshop of Shared Memories” I first met Biyi years ago at the Ox Warehouse exhibition space in Macau. Now based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Biyi has recently used traditional Cantonese slow-cooked soups as an entry point to explore women's roles within the family and examine mother-daughter relationships. During her brief two-day stay in Hong Kong, she hoped to gather participants' special memories and stories about drinking soup since childhood through a “Soup Tasting” gathering. The format was as follows: 。First, Biyi invites everyone to taste the crucian carp soup she began simmering that morning—a soup reminiscent of those prepared by her mother and grandmother. 。Then, each participant shares a soup they brought (handmade, family-cooked, or restaurant-bought—any soup with special meaning). 。While tasting each participant's soup, attendees listened to the story behind it and its significance to the sharer. They also freely responded and shared their own associations and experiences evoked by the soup. 。Everyone then reflected on their overall feelings and thoughts about the gathering. 。Finally, Biyi shared her future research and creative direction related to soup. - What kind of knowledge can dry herbs reveal? - What happens when cooking takes place outside the kitchen? - How do we prepare, savour, and foster bonds? Last weekend, with De Voorkamer, I hosted the TCM Cantonese Soup Workshop, a session focusing on seasonal soups, especially for autumn. As the air grew colder outside, the room filled with the warm, comforting aroma of simmering herbs and broths. We explored ways to preserve energy and nourish the spirit while transitioning into this new season. I was excited to see the curiosity and enthusiasm on everyone’s faces as they learned about each ingredient and chose the one that spoke to them. The chopping of vegetables, the gentle stir of the pot, and the laughter and conversation around the table created a unique sense of togetherness, turning these once-foreign ingredients into something familiar, meaningful, digestible and deeply shared. These moments and the simple yet profound joy of coming together over these diverse Cantonese soups have constantly refreshed my prior memories and connections with these herbal ingredients. Experiences like this, full of sensory delight, are meant to be shared; I want more, and we should all have more. Nieuwe Vide bestaat 30 jaar! Dit vieren wij met elk weekend activiteiten in onze expositie Vide Cultura: through rot and renewal. Dit vindt plaats in onze @artivistlibrary : The Living Room. <3 #haarlem #nieuwevide #Bitsray #YeganeMehrzad #TeaReading @mondriaanfonds @cultuurfondsyegane

Participants will create their own versions of herbal soup, incorporating both traditional and local ingredients, and share personal memories and stories that inform the soup-making process. 🥕 Bring Your Own Ingredients! We encourage you to bring along non-herbal ingredients-or a memorable herbal ingredient from your local grocery store or home, to contribute to the soup-making process if you can. 🔮🌶️💨 —- from vappecino to adult toy workshop. Here are some pictures of the workshop hosted by @___louisa___ @cyannevdhouten and yer @nastiacistakova . I provided the children all the knowledge I got about spicy objects and WE WENT THROUGH THEM ALL Cyanne provided us with their soldering knowledge and Louisa did a science fiction exercise with us to get into that fantasy bby! I was a 69 year old woman living and working in the tourist district op Amsterdam. I was the hottest and longest working tour guide of the Lovers Boat. Due to shortage of electricity and a ban on toys d’spicy, I had time to make authentic cheese to still entertain the tourist. And sometimes I sculpted that cheese into something to entertain myself if you know what I mean. 🧀🧀🧀

Since I am not the most technical person, I went straight to the design room of the toy factory. I was designing toys for multi partnered get togethers. 🫂 One ring for the frikandel, two sticks for entering an entrance. Two rings 💍 for the frikandel, one ornament for cat. And I practiced my knots. 🪢 Combining two toys for extra power and I was thinking of creating something for a football team. One object to rule them all. Curious of what the future will bring… omg 💦 And you can book usssssss. Email me and learn how to make your own toyssss from je voormalige verslaving 😘
