When you shoot stills but post video anyway. Oh, and @connor.herson is apparently eating his shirt while onsighting the 13+ crux of the @nikscaryberry route ‘Daddy Issues.’
Psyched for @boulderbushido who’s finishing up another Postapocalyptic Cosmic Horror film. It takes a tremendous amount of creative energy to pull something like this off.
Check the link in my story and consider supporting their efforts. Not everyone who moves to Bishop stays, and through the years it’s been brutal to see such great folks come and go. Sometimes though it’s for the best and it’s been amazing to see what these two have been up to. Carlos with a PHD in literature who intends to teach when he’s not making films while Steph has nailed down a masters in Physics! Congrats!
And then there’s KC, the wonder dog, the most amazing pup who ever lived.
I shot these images of them several years back during Covid. Katie was out of town on a self - imposed lock down at the Motherload with @twincannons and @jumbohoss .
We miss you all around here and keep up the good work.
Test images for E-Comm support. 🎯
Client was exploring tighter, on-model product storytelling in real trail environments.
We put together a test shoot to see how it could support e-comm imagery while still feeling real.
Everyone was happy with the tests and when the real shoot came around a few weeks later it was extremely smooth. 😎
It takes a strong mind. Seam Ripper (5.13b R) action with @almostonsight .
This really is an amazing line and I respect Abel for sticking with the head pointing vision. The climb really does lend itself to protecting with all trad gear. It’s not for everyone ( I’ll probably never lead it- placing gear anyway) but it’s definitely a bold addition to the East-Side.
Seventeen years ago @nicofavresse@seanvillanuevaodriscoll and I spent 2 weeks climbing the FFA of the South African route on Torre Central’s 4000’ west face.
Recently @siebevanhee and @tommycaldwell pulled off a huge one day ascent of the route: smashing the standard for ascending this wall.
I have strong memories of the cold, snow, and incredible climbing up there and can’t resist sharing these images, enjoy.
Thanks to @felipesh and @m.tangeman for their topo and photos of Siebe and Tommy
Darrell Hensel is one of the great California climbers. Putting up many hundreds of ‘ground-up’ routes in his 68 years, Darrell is still charging. Last autumn I was on hand to witness him sending a 5.13 project.
Late nights with @chrisbenchetler on the set of Mountains of the Moon.
Shot with film and processed here in my studio, digitized with a ‘nasty scan’ technique.
Hey how’s your day?
Yeah, it was a long one for me too.
Want to come over? We can hang out and take a nice refreshing BLOOD BATH.

“He who stays behind gets left behind”—that’s the pirates code.
In 2012, filmmaker and photographer @benjaminbditto , and professional climber @mason_earle equipped an immaculate line in Tuolumne’s high country.
But their attempts to free the route were thwarted when Mason’s life changed drastically.
With the help of BD Athlete @connor.herson , Ditto and Mason found a way to keep the dream alive…
Watch ‘The Pirates Code’ now at the link in our bio.
Despite what you see on social media, not everyone in Bishop is on Instagram spraying about what they’re (mostly not) doing.
Luke and Chip keep a low profile but have a keen eye for a clean panel. This crew has made a significant contribution to climbing in the area. You won’t see any ‘Low T’ behavior with this crew.
We got lucky with some late season alpine rock conditions and the unforcast light show at the end of the day.
Thanks for the invite and good vibes!
