This really is an amazing line and I respect Abel for sticking with the head pointing vision. The climb really does lend itself to protecting with all trad gear. It’s not for everyone ( I’ll probably never lead it- placing gear anyway) but it’s definitely a bold addition to the East-Side.
Got the First Ascent of this fun route right before the snow rolled in. Perfect temp fall day with Tony Lewis and his ATC while he flew my drone for the first time. Just in time for Halloween!

I was lucky enough to film Patrick O’Donnell on the First ascent of he and Dustin Stephen’s new route Hazy Jane 13A. It’s a beautiful arete up and right of the often packed gecko wall in Pine creek canyon. Check it out! FYI, this vid gives a lot of the beta but doesn’t show the crux of the route so the onsight go is safe 😉
Last weekend was magical. Monica took me up to the new shady crag above Mammoth Lakes to send some unfinished beauties from last year. Heatwave Heights is the perfect place to push your trad skills on cold amazing rock. We danced at an amazing party in the big trees the night between sends and fell in love again (it happens a lot). Mammoth is open and it’s time to play! Great day out with #danielmtb showing him the secret stashes. Got to ride the new trail down from the upper lakes right next to the waterfall. Thanks to the trail crews working hard up there. FYI the beers were old bottles we found. Drinking is not cool!
