‘here and there’ my first self-published artist book will be on view at this years @dublinartbookfair ! This book had it first inaugural display at @pssquaredbelfast with my solo exhibition ‘here and there’ taken from the title of the book, with a significant public engagement element, fostering a creative dialogue with other designers and artists on expanded image media within book making. DABF runs 04–14 December 2025 at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios! 📚 About DABF: Dublin Art Book Fair (DABF) is Ireland’s leading art book fair and a centre for contemporary artist books annually produced by Temple Bar Gallery + Studios. It features limited edition books made by artists, designers and independent publishers which can be browsed or bought. Over the ten-day run, DABF produces a free programme of artist workshops, art commissions, book launches, tours, and talks in celebration of the artist book, publishing and artist-run culture.  🌟 In 2025, DABF is guest curated by Dr. Selina Guinness, her theme is Flock. Through a selection of talks and nominated books, Guinness examines all things pastoral: humans and beasts; the relational art of shepherding; and the impact of flocks on habitats.

As part of ‘here and there’, I facilitated (with the assistance of Emma Spreadborough), a group of likeminded creative practitioners, writers and designers from Ireland, England, Wales and North America. It was a day packed full of layered questions of regional identities, bodies of works touching on otherness, hunting experiences of landscape and a wider discussion on creative practice within the islands. Each member, brought their own authentic lived experience to the table, and throughout the day we explored image based media from them and mine, as a pool of connected ideas that took over the ps3 space. Thank YOU to all of them, what richness, spaces and conversations like these are so needed! @drew_leventhal @emma.spreadborough @cian_pb @abpoulson @alexanderstubbss @jessraymonofficial @cathal_donnelly0 Coffee provided by @establishedcoffee Northern irish treats @emma.spreadborough Images taken by @cathal_donnelly0 / @emma.spreadborough / @ben.malcolmson @pssquaredbelfast Generously supported by The Eaton Fund.   Front image: @cian_pb self published zine ‘Do Something’, 2023 + script performance with @jessraymonofficial written work

📕 🗣️ New Show, New Book, New Look! Join me from 6pm @pssquaredbelfast for the launch of ‘here and there’ on Friday 24th October, ft: guest dj @tom.town - bringing ya vinyl bliss! 24 - 31 October (regular PS2 opening hours) Ben Malcolmson’s debut artist book, self-published ‘here and there’, presents a five-year photographic look (2019-2024) into the topography of Ireland and Western Europe. Drawing from an archive of five years of smartphone photos, the images are playfully assembled to weave thematic connections of place, personal ephemera and photographic making. Through a non-chronological sequence of works, Malcolmson explores the space between—the feeling of being neither fully here nor there. This publication will be launched as part of a significant photographic culmination held as a solo installation at PS³ - Belfast. Additional post soon, featuring very special guests from 🇨🇦, 🇺🇸, 🇮🇪, 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿, 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿!! Generously supported by The Eaton Fund
