Man, I really wish I'd taken more photos. Today we said goodbye to Type One Studios as we've known it for the past set of years. What a run we had! I love the idea of a recording studio as a community space but I certainly didn't understand that when @mattjordan16 pitched the idea to me 11 years ago. Type One was our little in joke, we're both diabetic. But we outgrew that spot, and then we outgrew another spot, and we joined up with friends. @intoitoverit , @theageofbronze , @jershperks joined up, and then we really hit our stride with @tunnelofreverb . And yet I took almost no pictures! We packed the room with so much creativity, so many friends, and so much gear. Bands that are done, bands that are touring the country tearing it up, people we didn't know beforehand, but left as friends. We truly built something, and I will always be proud of it. But losing Simon is just too much. Evan and I need to start somewhere else, now. And we have @reelsoundschicago and @stevemarek88 to thank for such a kind landing place. I know this space reached a lot of people, and it meant things to people I've likely never met. So first I want to say thank you, and second, come see about us at the new spot in Skokie. A recording studio is a community space. Thanks, yall.

Hello, internet. Today is bandcamp Friday and I come with news. Some months ago, @pizzathehut11 and @shwan_kiwistrawberry and I decided to go about remixing the 6 song record we made under the name Merit Badge. We were young when we made it, and it intoxicating to have REALLY nice studio gear to make a little math rock album. As a result we made some... bad choices. Heavily compressed tom mics on the in? Sure, bleed isn't a problem! Should we check the tuning on the bass? Nah! But modern tools have made these things easier to fix, and the mixes are, we think, much improved. The kind folks at @stormchasersltd have pressed it to vinyl for the first and only time (thank you @intoitoverit , love you) and @joshstephenstattoos made some art an @maxwellstern laid it out. It's available for sale through our bandcamp or the storm chasers web store. In the spirit of bandcamp Friday, and given the week we in our community have had, we'll be donating any of the money from our bandcamp to Simon's gofundme to help out Sarah. Had a surreal two weeks at @electricalaudio to start off the month. New @sincereengineer coming for you some time in '26! A lot of wonderful things have been said about the space, the studio, the gear, the staff, and it turns out they're all understatements. Greatest studio in the world. Massive thanks to @taylorhales for steering the ship a the many Star Trek references. Have a feeling EA will live long and prosper for years and years to come. LOTSA mics on the drum kit. 25 channels! If you have questions, ask em! Can't wait to share the tunes.

This week we suddenly had to say goodbye to our wonderful cat Nicholas. When you take on the responsibility of caring for and loving an animal, of course you know the weight of the journey, but I’m not sure there was ever going to be a time I felt prepared. We’re lucky he was such a ham right up until he let us know it was time. What an impossible task it is to write anything that could sum him up, or pick just a handful of photos to try to describe his personality. He was just the best. He was everybody’s friend, even if they didn’t know it yet. He was a little furry bundle of joy every single day, and could get a smile and a head scratch out of anyone. He loved sitting in a sun beam, and sitting in a lap. He was my best friend for 12 short years, and Claire, Pippen and I will miss him every single day. If you have a pet, give them a little scratch for us.
