BEARINGS IS A VISUAL EXPLORATION OF THE FOSTERED COMMUNITY CREATED THROUGH LOCAL SKATE CULTURE, UNITING GENERATIONS AND BACKGROUNDS IN ONE CELEBRATION OF PASSION, SKILL AND SPORT.
SKATING GOES BEYOND THE BOARD, ACTING AS YOUTH CLUBS, COMMUNITIES, AND PLACES OF CONNECTION AND BELONGING UNRESTRICTED BY AGE OR ABILITY. THIS EXHIBITION IS A COLLECTION OF PHOTOGRAPHS SHOWCASING THE FEELING OF PLACE CREATED BY THE LOCAL CORNISH SKATE SCENE. WITH PHOTOGRAPHY BY SKATERS SPANNING GENERATIONS, FROM LOCAL TEENS DOCUMENTING FRIENDS WITH MAKE-DO-CAMERAS TO PUBLISHED PROFESSIONALS, THIS BODY OF WORK IS A COLLECTIVE EXPRESSION OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO CORNWALL’S SKATE SCENE.
THROUGH THESE IMAGES, BEARINGS INVITES VIEWERS TO STEP INTO THE SCENE THESE SKATERS INHABIT, EXPLORING HOW SKATE CULTURE CAN FOSTER RESILIENCE, INSPIRE CREATIVITY, AND ANCHOR IDENTITY.
TONER - @toner.pz by @luckygoldteeth has now taken over the front gallery section of our little space on Chapel St.
Matt will be running a photographic gallery space and bookshop, also hosting workshops and events. Watch this space for some cool stuff coming up.

For all those that couldn’t see the show in the busy month of September - we have now extended the show til the 31st October

Raffle tickets for prints can also be purchased online. Link in bio. Winners will be contacted when raffle is drawn on Thursday 31st October. All funds will be donated direct to @mindcharity to support those struggling with their mental health ✨

Always a pleasure working start to finish with a client - Philippa aka @5ftinf came into the studio a few weeks ago wanting to get some works printed for her show @thehalpernpop in Rochester later this month.
In the end 34 prints were made, from 12cm wide postcard style prints on photo lustre to a lovely 20x28” on 310gsm Baryta Rag.
Philippa came in for an initial free appointment to check out paper types and the whole show was ready to collect less than a couple weeks later ✨

We’re gearing up for Sunday beauties ✨

Sunday sees the Newlyn Raft Race go down as a highlight of the end of summer calendar, 12-5pm then it’s us!

The equinox.

A time of equality. Light and dark. A symmetry of sunrise and sunset. Summer and winter perfectly intertwined for but a moment. A magical time in this magical place that we call home.
A time for celebration. Of the summer that was. Of what winter will bring.
This Common Unity seeks to explore these changes. Dark and light. Black and white.
