I Want To Be Ready is the culmination of two years of improvised performance, compositional experimentation, and recording sessions at Kawari Studios (
@kawarisound ) in the suburbs of Philadelphia. The album’s title is inspired by choreographer Danielle Goldman, who describes dance improvisation as an embodied state of self-awareness–or readiness–for whatever is to come. This music grows out of that feeling of readiness. Some pieces unfold totally spontaneously, others are through-composed and layered with overdubs and effects.
Guitar hero and friend Chris Forsyth (
@chrisforsythsolarmotelband )
writes: “Moment to moment the music bobs and weaves like a murmuration of birds as it also hums along like the drone of interstate traffic as experienced from a highway motel at night (two perfectly natural phenomena). Zoom in or zone out - I Want To Be Ready works either way.”
