° I Want To Be Ready °  The Early’s new album is landing on February 27th with Island House Recordings (@islandhouserecs ). This is the band’s first ever vinyl release! °Single “Sand Clock” out NOW on Bandcamp (link in bio) I Want To Be Ready is the culmination of two years of improvised performance, compositional experimentation, and recording sessions at Kawari Studios (@kawarisound ) in the suburbs of Philadelphia. The album’s title is inspired by choreographer Danielle Goldman, who describes dance improvisation as an embodied state of self-awareness–or readiness–for whatever is to come. This music grows out of that feeling of readiness. Some pieces unfold totally spontaneously, others are through-composed and layered with overdubs and effects. Guitar hero and friend Chris Forsyth (@chrisforsythsolarmotelband ) writes: “Moment to moment the music bobs and weaves like a murmuration of birds as it also hums along like the drone of interstate traffic as experienced from a highway motel at night (two perfectly natural phenomena). 🫧 We have new music out today. We’re proud to share this music as our first release with @islandhouserecs . This is Bandcamp exclusive for now (link in bio). 🫧 Cusp 🫧 is a single studio improvisation recorded at Kawari Sound in the suburbs of Philadelphia in the spring of 2023. This music was performed towards the end of our sessions for our last album Impatient. We were deep in that particular mind meld, but also arriving at a turning point, ready to let go of old compositions and start the search for something new. The take is split into three tracks, but can also be listened to as one seamless unit. Patrick Shiroishi (@patrickshiroishi ) - the great and prolific Los Angeles-based improviser - generously contributed overdubs to the final movement “Chopaghetti”. We are donating all proceeds to Asian Americans United (@asianamericansunited ) who have been supporting immigrant communities and fighting oppression from Philadelphia’s Chinatown since 1985.
