Do not miss the Spatulas. They are on tour from Bloomington, IN and they are one of the best interesting rock bands in the country. Seeing them at Bread and Roses last year was a mind blowing experience that made me excited about rock and roll in a way I have rarely felt. The rest of the lineup on this show speaks for itself. If you miss this one you are totally insane
🍻Show Up Chicago is back this Monday, May 18th. Our monthly mix of community gathering, cocktail hour, and political panel is hosted by our “Blue Beginning” chapter at one of the city’s most iconic saloons.
🏠This month’s theme is housing, and we’re digging into Governor Pritzker’s BUILD proposal to cut red tape and boost construction statewide. What would it actually mean for Chicago? Will city leaders get on board or protect aldermanic privilege? And most importantly: who benefits?
🌆We’ll break it all down with Richard Day of the must-read Substack A City That Works and state Rep. Eva-Dina Delgado. Join us!
🕕 Doors + bar: 6 PM 🗣 Program: 7–8:30 PM 🎟 Free + open to all but please RSVP

@zanderraymond is an interdisciplinary artist and musician working in Chicago. His music is rooted in improvisation, utilizing modular synthesizers and open-source sound computers to sample, warp, and build sonic images that embrace non-linear approaches to composition. He’s released music on Moon Glyph, Sound as Language, Florabelle, Cached.media, among others.
@kari__watson (they/them) is a composer, performer, and intermedia artist whose work explores the intersections of contemporary concert music, electroacoustic composition, live performance, and interactive installation. Their composition practice is cross-disciplinary and deeply collaborative, often involving workshop-driven processes that prioritize collective exploration and exchange. As a performer playing analog synthesizers, they engage a customizable spatialization software built in MaxMSP with spatial speaker arrays to further explore issues of tactility and drama in immersive sonic environments.
Sounds all night from DJ Shivani
