It’s time for the Cruise collection and Demna’s third chance to surprise us at Gucci. ❓But what has happened? Not much.❗️ Times Square as a location or not. It’s not the location that makes a collection. At a time when fashion is finally reinventing itself and bringing out new forms and ideas, it’s a huge risk to show revivals of old collections. Dior and Chanel are innovating; Gucci is not. When will Demna finally stop rehashing old Gucci collections and show something new? We’re all waiting. Probably most of all Luca de Meo, the CEO of Kering. #fashioncritic #cruisecollection #demna #gucci @gucci @dior @chanelofficial

Everyone’s writing about the Met Gala. So I’ll join in too. 👉Yes, it’s all a bit strange given the state of the world. 👉Yes, the Bezos are everywhere at the moment and best friends with Vogue. That’s sad. 👉But: I’m a museum-goer. I love exhibitions, and if the spectacle brings money to the museum, I’m fine with it. 👉Besides, some of the gowns are really very creative. It’s a shame that they’re mainly designed to be worn on the stairs for just a few minutes. #metgala @stellamccartney @lucienpages @muglerofficial @robertwun @heidiklum #bezos #fashionisart @metmuseum #redcarpet

Not to be missed if you’re in Paris: The Massimo Dutti pop-up in the Marais is only open until 27 April. 👉This luxurious store, which stocks exclusively limited editions, is open for just 10 days. 👉On offer are high-quality clothing, designer furniture, accessories, bags, perfumes and jewellery. 👉Prices are well above the usual Massimo Dutti level: most items start at 120 euros and upwards. 👉In return, you won’t find any polyester or faux leather. There are plenty of genuine leather pieces, which can cost up to 600 euros. 👉Most products are made in Portugal. 👉Upon entering, you are immediately offered a coffee. 👉The accessories are scattered throughout a library, whilst the jewellery is displayed in showcases. 👉Each outfit is displayed just once on the clothes racks. For sizing, you’ll need to ask one of the sales assistants. 🔎With this shop, which plays with experiences and elements of luxury retail, Inditex enterprise (mother of Massimo Dutti, Zara, …) impressively underlines its ongoing ❗️upgrading strategy. 🔎The pop-up’s décor and sales concept are modelled on the former, ephemeral Zara shop in the 6th arrondissement, which drew Parisians in droves for a year in the former Conran shop. 📣As I was told at Massimo Dutti, this luxurious shop will be given a new address and is set to open in September. Once again in the 6th arrondissement. It is still unclear whether Massimo Dutti will also move into the new permanent shop. ❗️Until then, I can only recommend not missing the limited-edition pop-up in the Marais. @massimodutti @_inditex #upgrading #popup #journalist #retail

👉The famous Coachella Festival is taking place again this weekend. Anyone going has been thinking about their outfit for weeks. 🔎It has to be right for the occasion: sexy, cheap and ready to throw away. ❓The question is, does that still fit with the times? Probably yes. ➡️Budget retailers like Shein and Primark usually make a lot of money before the festival season. ➡️If you search for ‘Coachella’ on Shein, you’ll find everything you need. And hardly any item costs more than 10 euros. So you might as well order a few extra and change your outfit several times a day. 💻Here’s what Google’s AI spits out about the festival: 🔎”Every year, Coachella generates around 👉1,600 tonnes of waste, of which only about 20% is recycled. 👉It would take 1,777 people a year to produce this much waste. 👉Apart from the music, Coachella may be best known for its campy, eccentric outfits, most of which are only worn once and then forgotten or trashed.” Question: Is this really necessary? How do dress for the festival season? #fashiontrash #throwawayfashion #festivalseason #howtodressforcoachella

A real discovery. ❗️This jacket had been buried in the ground to be ‘customised’ by the earth. 👉The La Cage brand doesn’t use the soil to prove how quickly natural fibres decompose and how long it takes for polyester to pollute the earth. Instead, the brand uses natural degradation to add patterns and decoration to the fabric. 🔎This is the result, and it looks stunning. And far less artificial than Prada’s worn-out pieces. 🧐Of course, you can argue about the point of burying a new jacket. 😉Let’s view it as a work of art, where the earth offers us new patterns and takes over the work of designers. And that, in my eyes, is fascinating. @_la_cage discovered at @howlettdubaele #burriedfashion #art #fashionjournalist #lacage

📣For anyone living in Paris who’s looking for a truly sustainable approach to fashion: At the shop « Hereux les Curieux » in the heart of the Marais district, the special concept ephemere with titel “précommande” is still running until the weekend. 👉 As the name suggests, you can place pre-orders here. Items are delivered once they’ve been produced. ❓Why is this particularly sustainable? 👉No overproduction. 👉No impulse buys, as you can take your time to think it over. 👉Most of the brands in the store are already operating sustainably anyway. With pre-ordering, we achieve the ultimate in sustainable shopping. 👉And it’s worth it: the brands are extremely carefully curated. I’ve known many of the brands for years, such as ❤️the German designer Sandy Chagnaud with her super-stylish and sustainable denim brand Happy Haus. ❤️Or Félicie Eymard, who has managed to print silk scarves with different colours on each side. That gives you two scarves. ❤️I’ve recently discovered Recco Paris, who make amazing bags from leather scraps. ❤️And also Bliss Paris, who create stunning jewellery from old jewellery, chandeliers, Grandad’s military medals and holy cards. 😀It’s well worth it. Don’t miss out! @heureuxlescurieux @happyhaus_official @recoparis_ @bliss_paris_ @felicie_eymard #conceptstoreparis #precommande #sustainableshopping #retailjournalist

The new Chanel Beauty advert breaks new ground, and that’s a good thing. Although, in my view, it could have been a bit more diverse. And by that I don’t mean skin colour or race, but rather profession, intellect, beauty and even continental origin. But I’m getting ahead of myself: 👉La CC League by Chanel Beauty is the name of the new advertising campaign, and it puts female athletes in the spotlight. 💪Without exception, these are exceptional athletes, Olympic and Paralympic participants. 👍It’s finally something different, even if not new in luxury marketing in general. For Chanel, however, it is new, because sport isn’t the first thing that springs to mind when you think of Chanel. So the brand is breaking new ground here. 🔎 Let’s take a closer look: four of the athletes are from Asia, which makes it clear where the company’s priorities lie. Two athletes are from France, one from the USA and one from Mexico. 🤨No athletes are from Africa. A great pity, but understandable, as Africa is probably not a key market for the brand. 😉They all look fantastic. Yes, they aren’t the classic beauty faces, but none the less, Chanel has stuck to selecting good-looking female athletes. 🙏🏻 I would have liked to see a bit more courage here, to see faces that are completely different. More character than beauty. 😀 I like the campaign and hope that Chanel continues down this path. ❓❓❓With female scientists, writers, philosophers, … 🧐After sport, now the intellect? I think that would be a good idea. #chaneladvertisement #sportandfashion #fashionjournalist #inclusión

Since when the US Vogue has a sense of humor? For the film “the devil wears Prada 2” the Cover shows the actress abd the original inspiration for the role. The interview is conducted by none other than Greta Gerwig. It’s hard to imagine anything going wrong. One who can ask funny questions questions, one who has made social distance her trademark, and one who can do absolutely everything and is usually in a good mood. Well done, Chloé Malle. #usvogue #thedevilwearsprada2 #gretagerwig #annawintour

Still looking for something to read over Easter? 😉 👉There’s plenty of my writing to enjoy in the latest issue of Spiegel S magazine. 💪The overarching theme of this issue is ‘Perseverance’. I came up with the idea myself, so I’m particularly proud of this edition. 🤓You can read my: 👉a feature on my favourite topic: second-hand fashion. What does the market look like right now? How has it developed? 👉my profile of the brilliant Agnès Troublé, aka Agnes b. 👉an interview about USM that has unfortunately been too much cut down. A brand I’ve been following for many years and one I always enjoy writing about. 👉 and admire a photoshoot on second-hand fashion featuring lots of items from my second-hand shop, LaSuite. 🛍️You can buy all these cool pieces!! 🧐What can I say? In this issue, perseverance wasn’t just the overarching theme, but also the theme behind the magazine’s creation. A lot went wrong, many people took ages to respond, and there were misunderstandings that completely threw our plans into disarray. 😉As a Parisian, you’re used to a lot of that. I also know that I never give up when I really want to interview someone. 🤨I persevere and sometimes attend events solely in the hope of meeting someone there who, despite an initial refusal, will put me in touch with the person I want to ask questions. 😂More often than not, it is precisely those people who were initially reluctant who end up being particularly glad to have spoken to me. And I usually am too, because I quickly realise which interviewees are worth not giving up on. So, have a good read. @spiegelmagazin @brookmedia3 @biancalangbognar @usmmodularfurniture @agnesb_officiel @feeglory @lasuite.secondhand @jg_robert_redford #durchhalten #journalist #interview #secondhand

I have been going to the trade fair @changenow_world , which presents solutions against the climate change, for 5 years now. 🔎I have discovered many great ideas there and many of these ideas have NOT been realised. 👉This year: You increasingly see other topics at the trade fair: 🫣Instead of prevention, the focus is now on preparing for floods, heat waves, water shortages… 👉The conferences are now about calculating the costs of doing nothing, which are far higher than those of prevention. Please note: ❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️ 👉Every minute, 1 person on earth dies due to climate change. 👉62,000 people died last summer in Europe alone. ❓When will we wake up? 🧐Is AI a solution? More likely no. But perhaps 👉bio technology is the key! ❓When will we finally start to consider and implement new economic models such as the 👉donut theory or 👉degrowth? We are running out of time! #Journalist #lovemywork #climatechange #stopplasticpollution @hera @lorealgroupe @effie_in_basel @nicola_levourch @marieclaire_de
