48 hours till HYROX London.
I’m not trying to switch into some different version of myself for race day because, if I’m being real, this is just a continuation of how I’ve been living and training over the past few weeks, and that’s what gives me confidence going into it.
The training hasn’t been perfect, and I’m glad it hasn’t because some days I’ve felt sharp and everything flows, and other days it’s felt heavy from the first station or the first run, but I’ve stayed in it and learned how to work through that instead of backing off.
What’s really made the difference this time hasn’t just been the sessions themselves but everything outside of them; actually eating properly instead of under fuelling and expecting my body to perform, staying on top of hydration daily instead of trying to catch up last minute, and taking recovery seriously even on the days where I felt like I could’ve just pushed through.
There’s been moments where I’ve had to park the ego completely and choose to rest, moments where I’ve focused more on moving well than moving fast, and moments where stretching and slowing things down was the session, and those are the parts that don’t really get shown but they’re the reason I feel ready now.
The journey hasn’t been about content or just getting a sweat on, it has been honest checkpoints where I’ve had to face where I lose composure, where I rush, where my breathing goes, and figure out how to bring myself back when everything starts to build.
So going into Sunday, I’m not chasing anything unrealistic or trying to force a performance. I’ve already seen what happens when it gets uncomfortable, and I trust how I respond to that now.
If you’re in that stage where it feels repetitive and no one’s really seeing the work you’re putting in, just know that’s the phase that matters most because it’s not the flashy sessions that carry you, it’s the consistency with the small things that decides whether you hold it together when it counts 🫡
