A refuge in the forest. A place of reflection and contemplation. Rendering for Open Sky Temple.
1:1 mockup study complete, moving to full scale production soon. Completion July 2026.
Motion capture data extracted from 3 dancers, 16 body joints, mirrored in XY axis, translated to 96 suspended screens. Parametric control and computationally designed to translate dance motion to volumetric compositions. Creating the armature for laser light memory.

'Open33'
Architecture suspended as a rigid index. Thirty three spatial coordinates dictate a temporary pavilion. Each wood support punctured by a specific 팔괘 (pal-gwae) hexagram. The void filters light and dictates structural friction while anchoring human weight.
Spatial logic moves in the opposite direction. It flattens. Extracting the radial sequence from site and cut directly into metal. A permanent map of negative space. The mass is removed but resonance remains.
Post dismantle. The architecture fractures into two opposing records. Plywood piled on the floor, the patina exposed. A dense accumulation of labour.

On the prairie, wind is sculptor. It carves sastrugi, dynamic ridges and sharp edges that make winter hostile. The same elemental forces that create barriers on Winnipeg’s winter river become the very materials of gathering and wonder. Hostility, reimagined as sanctuary.
Design for a warming hut.
Pavilion for ROBOTMADE 2025 workshop, now installed at the UBC campus. Component based structural system for doubly curved surfaces - utilizing bending elasticity of plywood to create curvature.
Designed, programmed, and fabricated using 7-axis KUKA via GH.

Past exhibition @vivomediaarts June 19-29
Different moments of laser visualization of body movements, where the aim was to visualize the human body and the dancers movements in ways that we can’t perceive easily but the presence of the body is still felt.

Fading glyphs
Rapid Laser projection mapping onto 96 screens suspended in the air specifically mapped to the joints from three bodies, each individually painted with a phosphorescent UV reactive paint leaving a fading afterimage of the previous movement. This particular section pushed the laser software to its maximum capacity often crashing the system during the process, we wanted to create an experience where you can feel the body within the structure and create moments where you can sense time as the fleeting glyphs of the body eventually disappears to again reappear into a new form
Today is the last day to experience ARRAY @vivomediaarts 4pm-8pm thank you again for the whole team couldn’t asked for more and momentum effort to bring this project together, looking forward to the next work as we continue explore.
