You might have noticed something new! After a year of the Black Sheep Collective, we have a beautiful new logo! We are so grateful to @__petni for encapsulating everything we are with this design. Our first logo started off with @desimeasanu imagining a sheep getting electrocuted by lightning to become the black sheep on a ebru backdrop. This will always be how we remember our collective. Thank you to all how have supported us along the way, we are excited to share this with you❣️ Nafisa (she/her) is a feminist cultural worker and illustrator born in Dhaka, Bangladesh and based in Queens, NYC. She has worked in sexual rights and feminism for over a decade in Asia, Africa and the US. Nafisa thinks of art and cultural work as tools for movement building, popular education and mobilization. We are so lucky that she was able to make this logo for us, and please give her a follow to see her work 🌺 For those who thrive beyond boundaries🪩

She is actively a collaborator, designer, and resident of semi-monthly event @heart.beatsnyc and curator of @goodmoodradiolounge See you there! Free entry always and good music all night 🫵🏽

@AMLA.DHAS here! Another year has flown by and we find ourselves, once again, in the fiery chaos of Sagittarius season ❤️‍🔥 Please join me at our favorite place @beverlysnyc to celebrate my birthday + our last Bev’s of this year! We have an amazing lineup of insanely talented DJs (who I’m also lucky to call my friends) spinning whatever their hearts desire. Expect our usual genre hopping high-energy eclectic vibes. Free RSVP in bio! RA link incoming if ur into that sort of thing. Also excited to share that we’re raising funds for @immigrationequality ! They provide legal support and resources to LGBTQ+ asylum seekers, as well as work in policy and advocacy to change our immigration system to better serve LGBTQ+ immigrants.

Still feeling the high from our BSC x @sagelovesny Halloween event at @beverlysnyc , we had an absolute blast with y’all! Thank you to all that have been supporting us, and bringing the massive energy you do! One of the most special things about this night was everyone who came through, danced and shared the space respectfully. We are beyond grateful for you! We were able to raise $360 for @buildingbeats , incredible org that provides DJ/music programming to young people! Please check them out! Catch us tomorrow night celebrating our new mayor for @tarkaproject with an incredible line up with @dynomanmusic @zaradekh0 @nabihahiqbal @thesyedazaidi , you don’t want to miss! 🌶️MEET THE BLACK SHEEP COLLECTIVE🌶️ @baabaaco @desimeasanu @brookegizem @amla.dhas The Black Sheep Collective is an NYC-based queer DJ collective founded by ur kanmani, ZEM, and AMLA.DHAS. Inspired by global sounds from parts of their childhoods and travels (such as Hindustani/Carnatic, Anatolian, Tamil, Arab, Latin, and Afro genres), they work to blend these sounds with house, techno, funk, and other danceable tunes. By mixing music across the world, they hope to create spaces for those who thrive outside of expectations and boundaries placed on them, while building a curiosity that foregoes borders. The Black Sheep Collective is also a group of interdisciplinary artists, and are experienced in musical performance through clarinet, piano, oud, violin, and dance. Black Sheep Collective shows center a multi-sensory experience, integrating music, dance, and visuals to engage the audience and participants. They have performed not only in NYC, but from Kalkan to Bangalore & DC to Chicago. See you on the dancefloor! 📸 @zay.ira
