ZARA DEKHO (she/her)
Zara Dekho is a Brooklyn-based DJ and curator, born and raised in Karachi. She is the co-runner or Rare Frequency Transmissions, and co-founder of Tarka Project. Her sets move between instinct and machinery, where inherited rhythms meet steel, sub-bass and late-night techno. You are as likely to hear percussive, low-slung house grooves as you are driving, hypnotic techno, heavy basslines, tripped out synth lines, and grooves that lock you in before you realize you’re caught. You can always expect a genre defying style, influenced by time, space and energy. With carefully picked selections, Zara Dekho plays the room as much as she plays the decks.
Notes on the Mix ///
“I recorded this mix during a stretch of life that felt uncertain - a season of curveballs, endings, and letting go, but also the quiet beginnings of something new. It opens slow and deliberate, with long, suspenseful blends - gurgling, chugging techno basslines and warped synths pulling you into shadowy, driving grooves. Tracks take their time, sitting in tension longer than feels comfortable, rolling forward track by track. As the journey unfolds, lighter moments appear with flashes of electro, house-leaning movement, a release and space to breathe before sinking back into deep, hypnotic pockets and a soft landing, endings folding into beginnings.”
