Look closely… all is not what it seems.
Just days before QuiltCon, @suzanne.campion and @emma_giacalone_textiles revealed this beautiful surprise project they had been secretly working on using the Aurifil x Liberty Cotton 50wt collection.
At first glance it looks like a classic cathedral window cushion. But the four inner windows aren’t fabric at all. They’re embroidered.
Emma created each embroidery using a palette inspired by Liberty’s Emily Belle fabrics, stitching them to the scale of the cathedral window template. Suzanne then framed the embroidery with Sapphire blue windows and Emily Belle prints, adding triple stitch details in the centre to match each fabric and thread.
Every detail was thoughtfully finished, from the colour matched quilting in each corner to the Marine Blue band, piped edges, and embroidered label on the back.
A secret collaboration and a very special surprise for the Aurifil team.

Artisan @quitoquilts is sharing her 'Make With Me' project this month, and we are completely captivated.
Tambour is essentially chain stitch worked with a hook rather than a needle, and once you see it in action, it is one of those techniques that just makes sense.
Amy has been practising with Aurifil Cotton Forty3 2784, and honestly, it is the perfect thread for building up that satisfying chain stitch texture.

The Aurifil x Liberty Cotton 50wt set has been on the road. From QuiltCon in Raleigh earlier this year to H+H Americas in Chicago last week, the booth has been full of makes that all started with the same 45 spools and a stack of @libertyfabrics Emily Belle prints.
What’s brilliant is how differently everyone has used them.
A Bear Paw quilt. A bell sleeve jacket with multi-strand quilting. A jam jar (yes, really). Cathedral windows where the windows are actually hand embroidered. A kiss lock purse stitched in layered violets. A rainbow project bag built almost entirely from fat quarter scraps.
Same palette. Twelve very different stories.
