The 2027 QuiltCon Challenge palette has just been announced. So have the threads.
Featured Artist and Speaker Steph Skardal (@stephskardal ) curated this year's Challenge bundle (sponsored by @windhamfabrics ) from Handloom by Tara Faughnan (@tarafaughnan ), a new collection of woven solids that shift in the light and add real texture and depth to every piece.
Then she curated 7 Aurifil Cotton 50wt spools to pair with it. Bold contrasts to subtle blends, the matching is done so you can focus on the making.
7 Small Spools, 100% Cotton 50wt:

Challenge submissions open September 1 and close October 31, 2026. Use 3 to 6 colors from the official palette, max 90" per side. Full guidelines via @themqg .

This is a good one, friends. 🎨 We got together with the team at American Patchwork & Quilting to dream up something fun for 2027, and we landed here! Scrappy goodness + controlled color...there's so many ways to go with this. We imagine everything from modern traditional to improv quilts - dig through your scraps (or make new ones) and show us your modern takes on this single-hued scrap challenge.
