I super love this quilt I made in 2021 and only recently realized I had never taken a picture of πŸ₯² I started a spring cleaning in my sewing closet space - a space I never poke very far into but have desperately needed to clean out. A big portion of it is finished quilts. I have a number of quilts I keep because either I use them for trunk shows or I like them or they have special meaning. I also make quilts to have ready to gift. I didn't realize just how many I had in there 😳 So now I'm updating my quilt documentation, taking some photos of quilts I missed, and getting to both donate and gift quilts (just in time for summer weather πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ). Please tell me you have a pile of quilts that has gotten a bit unruly too. Right??? I designed this quilt from a prompt I gave myself about movement. The different kinds of arrows - different in block type and scale - gives kind of a swirling, slightly chaotic but organized movement. I originally made this quilt using a really gorgeous Alison Glass fabric collection...and I have yet to find that quilt 😞 (and it's so beautiful and different from this one). I made a second one (this one!) because I wanted to try a dark background and I think it turned out nice πŸ’™ #quilt #modernquilting

😍 I think this is such a pretty quilt! This is the Moon Lights pattern from @bysarahruiz (thank you for designing such a stunning one, Sarah!). I pieced it over the winter, but of course only just finally got a picture of it. I made this for my child's teacher whose favorite color is pink. I paired it with a rich emerald color and used yellow and gold accents. Quilts have been a small way to say thank you and we appreciate you to our local teachers. Especially when they (and medical professionals) have been unfairly villainized for the past six years. I appreciate the little thrill I get in return at their awe in receiving such a gift. Time to label and package this one up! #moonlightsquilt #sarahruizquilts

Another quilt top for the books. I pieced this small quilt while at retreat after pulling some solids and blenders from stash. I like the dynamic movement in this one! The pattern is Aglow from @modernlymorgan #aglowquilt

I spent time recently surrounded by fun fabric, good food, and an amazing community of quilters at a @mashemodern retreat! I enjoyed having a little rest and reset while admiring a lot of inspiring projects. I finished a couple quilt tops including this Nightingale pattern from @loandbeholdstitchery #nightingalequilt #loandbeholdpatterns

I'm in! Are you?! Thank you for all the nice comments last week as I shared the Falling Stars quilts I made 😊 Now the real preparation begins as the sew along starts soon on April 16! MQG members can sign up on @themqg website (and if you are not a member, you can join the MQG anytime 🌟). I have hosted sew alongs on my own, with friends here on IG, and for the past several years at the MQG - and I enjoy it so so much because COMMUNITY. The irony is I sew day-to-day mostly for the solitude (and I think many of you do too) because it's an opportunity to quiet my mind, test my own creative limits, and do something just for myself. But coming together time-to-time for community - sew days, sew alongs, bees, guilds, and so forth - is so rewarding. I know I'm not alone in recognizing the importance of community NOW and its importance ALWAYS. So I hope that if it works out for you, you'll come sew a Falling Stars quilt and be in community and use the fabric and whatever else you need this time for β™₯️ Now I'm off to narrow down the 537 color ideas I have for my next one πŸ˜„

Shh 🀫 Don't tell the others but this one is probably my favorite πŸ–€πŸ©·πŸ€ I mean, if you've been here awhile you aren't surprised (and if you're new, I love black and pink!). I had a feeling a black and pink Falling Stars would be lovely. I also dug into all my fabric for low volumes with pink and I think it really delivered 😍

I mentioned in my last post that I have made several Falling Stars quilts and this is the second one. I wanted to really see the different textures going from solids to blenders. In both quilts, I mixed in stash and scraps, making an effort to use just some of the overwhelming amount of fabric I've accumulated. 🫣 Anyone out there relate? 😬 Both the solids and print/blender samples use the same colorway but they feel so different to me! I always enjoy seeing the fabrics I've used in other projects pop up in a quilt like this - a little piece of my quilt story showing up everywhere. 🌟 Do you see the ice cream cone in the lower left side? It's the little things bringing me joy today. 🍦

I made a thing! And you can too 🌟 We're making the Falling Stars quilt for the MQG sew along this year. Just log into your account and find the sew along details, sign up, and pattern in the resource library. You can also find links on @themqg profile. I've made three Falling Stars (I was going for simple construction with a nice design impact when I designed it. And they are kind of like good chips...you can't eat/make just one πŸ˜„) and I hope to make a fourth by trading blocks with others. If you decide to participate and want to swap blocks, let me know!

Thrilled with these two new kits for the holidays! The Pineapple Bullseye quilt is a fun take on a classic pineapple block. With a focus on the block center, larger than typical, makers can choose to fussy cut their favorite fabrics for a distinct, center focused design. Designed by Jessica Plunkett (@maeberrysquare ), the effective use of color gradation makes Jessica’s design a stand out! This special edition quilt kit is made in a colorful gradation of Andover’s Century Solids. This pattern uses the foundation paper piecing quilting method and finishes at 72β€³ x 72β€³. Check the link in bio for discount code details and link to all of our new kits, bundles, goods & notions. #alisonglass #pineapplebullseyequilt #alwaysandover

Step into the wayback machine with us? Found these pics again today while cleaning up my desktop. This Pineapple Bullseye quilt, designed by Jessica Plunkett, @maeberrysquare , is still a favorite! A couple more finishes in my quilt diary album to go πŸ“š I had the Bookish fabric collection since sometime in the pandemic days and put it to use early last year in this quilt. I love the variable/moving background in the design. I also love all the cute book-themed fabrics: bookmarks, open books, glasses (swipe for a better look) and some pretty florals πŸ“š Pattern: Star Shower Fabric: Bookish from @sharonhollanddesigns for @artgalleryfabrics #starshowerquilt #starquilt #bookishfabric

Another quilt diary album finish to share πŸ’›πŸ’™ I started and pieced this quilt top in January 2024 and it's a favorite! I quilted it earlier this year and I only just photographed it recently. Again, timeline problems over here πŸ˜‚ When Summer released this pattern, I spent a lot of time trying to nail down a color palette where I could get a glow-like effect. I'm really happy with how it turned out! I have so many misses trying to play with color that it is nice to celebrate a win every now and then, you know? πŸ’›πŸ’™ Pattern: Stars in Court from @squats_and_runningstitches #starsincourtquilt #starquilt #logcabinquilt #courthousestepsquilt #modernquilt
