March 19th! I'm honored to be part of @litquake 's conversation with Rachel Walther (@rwalth ), author of "Born to Lose: The Misfits Who Made Dog Day Afternoon," which will be followed by a screening of the film. March 19 | 7:30pm At @4startheater šŸŽŸļø: litquake.org/upcoming-events Did you know the 1975 film "Dog Day Afternoon" was all based on a true story? In her latest book "Born To Lose: The Misfits Who Made Dog Day Afternoon," film historian Rachel Walther draws on extensive archival research to delve into the film’s backstory, tracing how an unbelievable true crime tale of love, bank robbery, and LGBTQI+ activism became a box-office smash and catapulted a group of Brooklyn outsiders into the media spotlight.

I can't thank everyone enough for making our @tightandnerdymovie premier (in person and online) one of the most amazing experiences of our lives. The feedback and well-wishes have been overwhelming. And I'm adding in our @sf_sketchfest show too just 2 weeks prior. Some of you came to both! We owe you some kind of badge made out of baloney or something. Unfortunately, I didn't get to talk to or thank everyone for coming in person so here's my lame attempt to remedy that. šŸ¤“ I also want to thank the journalists who got the word out about the film - unsung heroes Joe Kukura, @rodzilllllla , @zackruskin , @davidamwilensky , @brokeassstuart , and others. The world is so fucked up right now. Reading the news has become surreal. We're all panicked, having nightmares, feeling powerless. If what we're all doing with @alfredyankovic 's music, defiant nudity, film cameras and editing software (@candacekregg !), and our comedic sensibilities can give anyone a moment's peace and time to reflect on what makes life worth living, then we've done our jobs. We all have the power to connect and create in infinite ways. As a different Al once said (roughly), there is no part of you that is not of the Gods. PS: 3 more festivals coming up - Omaha, Beloit, and Lake County. Midwest FTW.

Watch from home or in-person! @tightandnerdymovie is playing at @sfindiefest this Saturday, 2/7 at @roxie_theater ! You can get tix for the live screening (with Q&A + live performances!) or get tix to screen online until 2/15. Tight & Nerdy is the documentary about the all-Weird @alfredyankovic burlesque troupe I'm in with @jann_l_jones (our fearless leader), @pearlegates , and @supportcheese (plus many guests from SF & around the country like @ninanightshade , @monamontague , @lady_satan_artist , @sophiemaltease , @diewies & so many more). A film 10 years in the making, Tight & Nerdy is finally making the rounds at film festivals and winning awards. Now we're playing at one of my favorite SF theaters! We've also had some very nice reviews. Thank you, everybody. Let's get weird. Tix: (click link in my Linktree or...) /films/6936d5085c0a0ac8ef8fac83 #tightandnerdy #alstravaganza #sfindiefest

The Bowie Birthday Bash is January 9th & 10th at Great American Music Hall in SF! The First Church of the @sacredsilversexual celebrates 15 years of celebrating David Bowie with two nights of live music and performance. I’ll be performing both nights with my partner in performance crime, @annalynbond , as well as with @itsbinapleasure & @roxanneredmeat , and a cast of other stars✨. On January 9th, the entire "Ziggy Stardust" album will be performed and on the 10th, it’s "Station to Station" & "Let’s Dance."
