Archaic Vaults presents: TOT ONYX + SHOLTO DOBIE
Silent Green Kuppelhalle
07.02.2026
Tot Onyx
Tot Onyx is the solo project of Tommi Tokyo, a sound artist and performer born in Tokyo and living in Berlin, who likes to work with metal objects and her body. She is also a half of the Japanese experimental performance duo group A, which was active from 2012 to 2020.
The early work of the band, which knew how to break expectations both live and on sound carriers, reflects the experimental vocabulary that Tommi continues to develop today. Their practice is a deliberate rejection of traditions and clichés, an attitude that is characterized – in the words of Greil Marcus – by “the principles of negation, rebellion, destruction and détournement”.
Sholto Dobie
Sholto Dobie was born in Edinburgh and lives in Vilnius. He is an artist and curator who works in various sound-related contexts. With a unique performative language, he creates listening situations that play with the interplay of surroundings, people gathered together and the course of time.
He uses different sound sources, including self-built pipe instruments, accordions and voice, which reflect and integrate his interest in sound phenomena as well as traditional instrument building and folklore.

‘For those who tend to drift’
Severin Black ‘Country Music’ [AV015]
‘Written during a period of geographic and artistic transition, Country Music traces Severin Black’s movement from London to Berlin, unfolding through cycles of isolation and adaptation. Composed on the city’s periphery, the album’s material was continually dismantled and reassembled, reflecting a process of both artistic and personal reconstruction. The album marks a shift in production methodology, moving away from the immediacy of summed live takes toward a more deliberate, stratified multitrack approach. Sparse yet hypnotic, the record distills layers of sound formed by constant relocation, recurrent solitude, and a recalibration of instinct. In many ways, it echoes the experience of exile, not in a political sense but in the quieter, more insidious form of displacement that alters one’s perception of time and self. The music drifts between structure and dissolution, a reflection of existing at the threshold of different spaces—both physically and sonically.’

Various Artists ‘Continuing A Worn Out Tradition IV’ [AV014]
The fourth edition in the label’s compilation series brings together an almost entirely new cohort of ten artists from across the globe. Personal means of expression are archived side by side, coming to light in the form of sparse amorphous percussion, layered voices, restless arpeggios and undulating, heavily filtered soundscapes.
All digital and physical proceeds go towards Medical Aid For Palestinians and the Lebanese Red Cross.

‘Duet’ by Severin Black and Owen Pratt is out today.
These seven tracks exist both as duets and as momentary respite from the isolation both musicians faced during the pandemic. Ritual routine visits across two years of solitude. Long nights spent in dim lighting as negronis gradually dilute in the heat. Much of this album was recorded amidst a backdrop of townships with murky histories of sectarian religious conflict, labour shortages and abandoned properties, against the common notion of southern France solely as a tourist destination.
Each edition has been hand painted by Shaan Bevan using powdered iron and seawater collected in the southernmost region of France where half of the album was recorded, and applied to the whole edition as one giant canvas.
