Pancho Villa: World Champion, 1923, will tell the story of Filipino boxer Francisco “Pancho Villa” Guilledo, who in 1923 shattered expectations by becoming the first Asian flyweight world champion. The event will include a book talk with author Dr. Bernard James Remollino, special performance by artist Power Struggle, an exclusive viewing of a documentary based on Pancho Villa by Kapwa Kollective, discussion hosted by Dr. Kirin Macapugay, historical artifacts from Bayani Art founder Joe Aquilizan’s private collection, and light Filipino refreshments. Event hosted by the San Diego Public Library, the San Diego Public Library Foundation, Friends of the Skyline Library, (we 💗you, our library peeps)!
