i used to have a sp*tify playlist that i’d update pretty regularly with songs i’ve worked on for other people but since that platform pays musicians so little & their policy re: tracks created w generative AI suggests to me they dgaf about human artists i figured it’d be good to do this on buy music club instead so you can listen to each artist directly on bandcamp & buy their tracks if you vibe them
i’ve made separate playlists for my mastering, mixing, vocal engineering and production work, full of really wonderful music that has given me such a sense of purpose to contribute to
the vocal engineering and production stuff is all a bit older and/or my own stuff because i took a break from most attended work during a period when i was searching for stable/long term accommodation, but now that i’m settled i’m enjoying getting into more in-person sessions sm🩶

i have a new ambient collaboration out today with @drumandlace & it’s called Resin 🩶 this track comes to you courtesy of @marineeyes & @anita_tatlow ‘s beautiful gentle voices series (via @echoesblue / @cloud__collecting ) which has seen a whole bunch of women in ambient pair up to make some truly inspiring music
when sofia sent me the demo we grew this piece from she said that she called it resin because resin is a substance that protects, heals, and bonds. as i recorded my vocals for the track i was reflecting on how nature is always busy creating, breaking, healing and destroying in a cycle, even when i’m not paying any attention to it at all due to being a chronically online little freak

We are absolutely thrilled to have @aphir_ on the lineup for the launch. A true sweetheart and one of Canberra’s finest creative exports, Aphir is now based in Naarm/Melbourne, so we are extremely lucky and grateful to have her return home for this gig. Her music spans from meditative ambient soundscapes to words of devotion sung into a wall of digital noise. Aphir will be playing on the Rooftop Terrace.
Aphir is the electronic choral project of engineer/songwriter/producer Becki Whitton. This year has been busy for Aphir, seeing her accompany Chelsea Wolfe on her Australia & NZ tour, as well as supporting Tangerine Dream at their Naarm/Melbourne show at Max Watts. In July she undertook a producers residency in Calgary, funded by the National Arts Centre of Canada. Throughout 2020 - 2021 Becki embraced the challenges of pandemic lockdown through live-streaming on Twitch - first producing, recording, and mixing her 2020 LP, Republic of Paradise, on livestream and then pursuing marathon-length vocal improvisations on Twitch throughout 2021, culminating in a 12-hour performance on Boxing Day that year. Her 2023 LP, The Halo Is Shapeless, is made up of works created during home stretch 10, 11 and 12 hour improvisations from this project. As well as her work as Aphir, Becki is known for her mixing and mastering work for other artists (Stella Donnelly, Jessica Mauboy, Ruby Gill) and has received ARIA, AWMA and MPEG nominations in this field.
