‘In Conversation:
James Geurts and Dr. Aaron Gronstal’
11.5.26 from 14.00 until 15.00
Hawthorne Lecture Theatre
Royal Scottish Academy
Edinburgh
‘Please join James Geurts, an invited artist for the curated element ‘IN TIME’ for the RSA 200 Annual, in conversation with Dr Aaron Gronstal, astrobiologist and science communicator with NASA’s Astrobiology Program.
James and Aaron share a remarkable overlap in research of geology and life origins from distinct perspectives.
Both have worked at the Flinders Ranges of South Australia, among the oldest deserts in the world, and both have studied Ediacaran fossils.
Join them for what promises to be a uniquely valuable exchange between art and science.
IN TIME
This significant year for the RSA also marks the tricentenary of the birth of James Hutton (1726-1797), ‘the father of modern geology’.
Reflecting on our philosophical and physical foundations (with the building constructed on ancient volcanic rock), Annie Cattrell’s curation will explore the RSA’s rich layered development over time.’
