She’s interested in making unfamiliar presentations of everyday/everynight phenomena. Her photography solo show, low-sodium, night frequencies, took place at AGITATE Gallery, Edinburgh in 2024 (you may remember)!! Experimentation is central to Kit Martin's approach. She creates phytograms on microscope film and cyanotypes on discarded slides and explores time and place through site-responsive processes. Cameraless photographs may be made at the seashore or in a pond at night. Hangin' out with.... Julie Laing! Yes it's us again, sharing our last couple of wonderful people joining us tomorrow at the Hoxton. You may remember Julie's brilliant exhibition with us which opened almost exactly two years ago (!!) 'low sodium, night frequencies'. Julie has been documenting low pressure sodium (LPS) streetlights and their impact on our nightscapes for ten years. Their distinctive yellow-orange glow produces a monochrome effect which often goes unnoticed, and is experienced by some as depressing, even nauseating. Last month our members were treated to a tailored night walk led by Julie - during which we actually witnessed the DEATH of a lamp, completely by chance - which burnt out whilst we were watching! 😯 Anyway, we're huge fans of Julie's beautiful photography and think Edinburgh deserves another chance to nab a print. 📆 TOMORROW Sat 29 November, 12-6PM 📌 The Get Together, Hoxton Hotel Gratefully part of @fairsaturdayscotland , a celebration of culture and community in the wake of today's big money bargains. #Photography #Edinburgh #SupportLivingArtists

It explores the problematic and poetic use of systems and devices for measuring, looking at the futility, absurdity and impossibility of truly knowing the world around us. The Revelator Summer Open Exhibition is on today and tomorrow 11-6 and really worth catching. Follow the big yellow crane on South Street. My photo diptych, Underpass, (slide 2), is about The Glasgow Overspill and the journeys made to and from the city by its relocated population. It's sharing the wall of death with 80 wonderful works. I've had such a great time and learned so much from working with the @offpagevispo visual poetry group. Come along today to @manystudios and see what we've made together. My work, THE OVERSPILL, is about the mid-20th century housing plan to relocate 300,000 Glaswegians over 10 years. It features a mirrorball-globe, photos I took around Denny and a video inspired by the @glasgow_barrowland just around the corner. We're open today (Sun 6th) 12-5 then 12-5 Wed 9th to Sun 13th. Our poetry performance showcase is on Friday 11th (doors open 18:30) with tickets available now on eventbrite and Meet the artists on Sunday 13th from 12:30. Thanks to everyone who's come along so far, to off-page 24's @miriamali for the group shot and Leo Plumb for curating the show and supporting people - many of whom who have never exhibited.
