Happy anniversary to ‘Anything At All’ - which officially turns one on February 14th! In celebration, the ‘Anything At All’ LP is on sale today only in the AKR store. About ‘Anything At All:’ Recorded sporadically over a period of two years, ‘Anything At All’ was primarily created at @sufjan ’s Catskills studio during the pandemic, with additional sessions recorded by @andyrecording , in Seattle, WA. Contributors include Stevens and Park as well as @meglui , @sam.evian , @misshannahcohen , @seantlane , and @keenanomeara , amongst others. The album’s musical aesthetic marries Denison’s ‘70s folk vibe with Sufjan’s signature bells and whistles: lush strings and woodwinds, women’s choir, and an occasional jazzy saxophone weave their way around Denison’s matter-of-fact vocals and acoustic guitar. @marble_band released the EP “what i love and leave behind”! Produced/engineered/mixed by me and mastered by @tedjensen_sterling I am so proud of the Marblites for continuing to push themselves to make more and more exciting and surprising music, and for letting me convince them that both 7 string guitars and Malort are cool. Huge huge thanks to everyone involved, especially @scarrisonwhitford for the mind bendingly cool guitar solo on “Shame” and @londonbridgestudio for sounding so good. Enjoy, and catch them out on tour!

As we cap out 2025, I want to take a moment to appreciate @kexp and some of the performances I’ve had the joy of mixing over the years. KEXP have been so instrumental in supporting the records I make over the years, and these live sessions are a huge gift to the world. Hope you enjoy this little walk down memory lane with me. Major shout out to @suggskevin and @farfetcher for the exceptional recording engineering on these. (I only got involved on that side during Phoebe’s and Better Oblivion where I went way overboard with the vintage Neumann mics.)

@cataldomusic “Two Way Mirror” is out today! Produced and mixed by me, engineered by me and @bobbykamalino and mastered by @gregcalbi and @fallonesteven at @sterlingsound This album was the biggest breath of fresh air to make, and it came along exact when I needed it. Centered at @altamirasound in late 2023, we were blessed with some of the best musicians I know all sitting in a room together running songs down live on the floor to 24 track tape. @scarrisonwhitford @spencerzahn @levimatulis @bobbykamalino and @tylercarroll just really blowing our minds over and over again with their taste and ability. Additional vocals by the incredible @not_al_men @thisisjdobson and @abbygundersen (who also shredded some fiddle) I am endlessly grateful to Harry and Rob for the insanely good food recommends that led to 2 hour luncheons every day full of culinary wonder. I think you can hear the joy in this record, even when the lyrics are heavy, and I think that’s the way it should be. Some truly fun songs mostly borne of grief and frustration; transmuted and alchemized into beauty and joy. That’s what it’s all about!

“Which Way” by @denisonwitmer out now! This is a rare special release where you get to hear @sufjan and I interpret the same (appropriately titled) song slightly differently. While both versions include elements of both of our production, Sufjan fleshed out his in his own special way, and I mine. I’m so honored to be able to be a part of this beautiful experiment, and I hope you enjoy both versions! I helped finish Suf’s mix, and I of course produced and mixed my version, huge thanks to @abbygundersen for the strings and @seantlane for drums and bike. Denison sings and plays guitar, Sufjan does programming, some guitar and synth, @sam.evian plays bass, I added some additional bass and synth, backing vocals by Sufjan, @misshannahcohen Megan Lui, and Abby. Cici the full length LP is out now! @ciara , @therontheron_ and I started working on this record back in December of 2020, and we’ve all lived a ton of life in the meantime! @rowdyrob74 released his LP “Johnny & Jenny” yesterday! I produced with Rob and mixed. I first met Rob through @noahgundersen who introduced me to him through his work as the man who wrote some of everyone’s favorite @lukecombs songs, and after a really inspired writing day in Seattle, I was honored to be asked to fly down to Muscle Shoals, Alabama to record this album with Rob at the legendary @fame_recording_studios . Rob put together an insanely great group of players @kurtozan251 @weston__stewart @danieladamsousa @messyguitar and of course @noahgundersen to bring the songs to life, with Fame’s own @specoats at the board to engineer. Transforming the songs Rob wrote out of sparse acoustic arrangements into fully realized, cinematic pieces of music was a huge joy with these guys, and I will remember the experience forever. Once I returned to Seattle, @abbygundersen added some wonderful vocals over many of the songs, and I mixed with @gregcalbi and @fallonesteven on the master. I hope you get the chance to sit down and listen to the artistry in this record, and Rob’s wonderful writing craft and commitment to making something real and tangible. Also, Rob made an insanely cool short film that goes along with this record, so don’t miss that either. Thanks for having me along for the ride, and special thanks for bringing Clementine the cat along.

@charlotteslawrence released her debut album “Somewhere” today, I co-produced tracks 1,2,5,6,8,10,11,12,13 co-wrote tracks 1,6,8,10,11,12 and mixed 1,6,8 ! Where to begin! This whole project started as a writing session with @gibbstack and Charlotte, and over the next 3 years became one of the most inspiring and exciting projects I’ve ever worked on. I am so grateful to Charlotte for trusting me to take on so much of this album, I really put a lot of myself in there. Charlotte, I am so proud of you and this record. We had so many absolutely wonderful collaborators on this one, first of all thank you @gibbstack for inviting me along for this, it would not have happened without you, and writing songs with you and Charlotte was a core memory. @marshallvorefanatic thank you for your patience and amazing brain, writing with you is insanely inspiring. The incredible players that made up the rest of the project are my dear friends @abbygundersen @jasonmcgerr @seantlane @scarrisonwhitford @grumpybeard Ben, Charlotte and I played all the other instruments except for “Somewhere”, Marsh played drums, keys and sang harmonies.
