Recently, been thinking about Owl John and all the music and records we made - those experiences and memories timestamped by ideas and melodies coming out the speakers, images from distant studios many years ago. This takes me to a woody old school on the west coast of Scotland lots of tea, chocolate and a little whisky consumed.
The vinyl has had a repress and is available in all the greatest record shops plus our new web-store.
Hopefully some new people find this and get their lives in 2025 stamped with these songs. Still as powerful and relevant as the day it was made.

I took a class with @school_of_song & @brianeno in January this year - it was very inspiring and fruitful to tap into some new ideas, reignite older perspectives and shake off creative doubts.
This track was birthed from a seed / melody of an idea around 2 chords - we jammed this out in about 25 minutes. This is the final 19-25 minutes with some vocal overdubs on it.
Kraut : Noise : Fuzz all the goodness of an off the cuff on the edge moment.

Tanita sent me an early piano demo on which I put a lot of rather tense string layers - I thought there’s no way she’ll be interested in going this direction, it’s too dark. I was wrong and the first stones on a path forward through the album were in front of us.
Had a really fulfilling and experimental time with the textures on this and I’m grateful for her trusting me with the album. Excited for it to come out later this year - she’s an absolute legend!

Andy is a Glasgow based producer whose live set explores guitar noise and textures across live looping and ambient moments.
As a member of Frightened Rabbit, Andy has toured internationally for over a decade, and has recorded the likes of We Were Promised Jetpacks, Jill Lorean , Lewis McLaughlin, and more recently he has set up Monohands Records @monohandsrecords
