"The Thirty-Two Physical Characteristics of the Buddha" was recently included in the Helsinki Analog Festival, organized by the Finnish Darkroom Association. Thanks so much for including this work, and for sharing this beautiful photographs of the exhibition! (This was Miso's first trip overseas :P )
@finnishdarkroom . Photographs by Daniel Court.
A few copies of Stuck in Saṃsāra: Dispatches from the Burning House are now available.
This book was produced for the exhibition, Stuck in Saṃsāra, at @bunkerprojects and features images from the exhibition along with an essay by Karen Lue (published on Bunker Review), a new essay (and an old essay) by me, new writing from Jenna Peng and Elina Zhang, and questions about the artworks written by both Jenna and Elina for the workshop Our Mutual Suffering.
This publication was originally available at the workshop In a Bind, where participants could bind and take home their own copy. There are a limited number of books left over from the workshop, available for $12 on my website. Link in bio.
Sorry for this video. It’s so stupid. I’m just trying to get your attention.
Thank you to everyone who came out to the bookbinding workshop on Saturday. It was such a nice way to close out Stuck in Saṃsāra. Together we made 30 books in three hours!
I’ve taught a lot of workshops, but this was the first workshop where participants got to take home a printed publication, rather than just a blank notebook. A huge part of my goal with Almost Perfect is not just producing and selling books, but also encouraging anyone to make their own books. It feels really excited to have a publication made and disseminated communally, and I’m excited to do more workshops like it in the future.
There are a few copies left that I will bind and make available soon. If you weren’t able to make it to the workshop, keep any eye out.
Thank you to @bunkerprojects for providing a home for my creative work over the past six weeks, and thank you to @jadedpgh for funding the project and making this workshop possible.
Stuck in Saṃsāra: Dispatches from the Burning House features images from the exhibition along with Karen Lue’s new essay for Bunker Review, a new new essay by me (and an old essay by me), new writing from Jenna Peng and Elina Zhang, and questions about the artworks written by both Jenna and Elina for the workshop Our Mutual Suffering. This is a new exclusive publication that you can bind and take home yourself at the upcoming workshop next Saturday the 21st. This is a drop in workshop—stop by anytime from 1-4 pm. Please register ahead of time so I can make sure I have enough copies—link in bio to register.

I will be at one more event this year—the @scribblehousepgh LitFest this Sunday 11/16 from 2-8pm at Spirit. I'll have all recent titles for sale, and will be participating in a panel on Literary Community in Pittsburgh at 3:30pm. See you there!
Doing a quick little raffle! I did a couple of sketchbook binding workshops this year and have these two demo sketchbooks that are really nice but not perfect enough to be considered almost perfect, lol. The orange one is 7x9 in, 120 pages, the blue one is 8x10, 100 pages. Both use Blick sketch paper. $5 tickets, Venmo me at @almost_perfect , buy as many tickets as you want and let me know if you want the orange or blue. All profits will go towards Palestine or local mutual aid, let me know if you have any preferred orgs. Will pick winners next Friday?
I’m going to be at the Pittsburgh Zine Fair (@pghzinefair ) this Sunday, and will be launching one final book the year (whoo… 😮💨): Ari Moline’s “god with blinking red light ON”, with illustrations by Jacques Gardener. It’s a collection of surrealist fantasies about language, relationships, desire, naming, salt, tubes, gravity, and other subjects. (Also lots of hairy butts 👀) Get a copy this weekend—also be available at AlmostPerfectPress.com this Sunday.
