A living workspace.
Here, we’ve designed a space that functions seamlessly as both a living room and an office. Concealed within the red lacquered cabinet is a fully integrated desk and computer. A rich mix of finishes brings character, from the historic floorboards and furniture to the crisp lacquered surfaces, a contemporary lamp, with a touch of green, adds a counterpoint.

An open oak screen draws light down from the skylight above, softened through the timber slats.
Taking a cue from Alvar Aalto’s stair at Villa Mairea, the screen mediates between structure and atmosphere, balancing solidity and spatial definition with permeability and transparency.

As the day closes..
From outside, the open-plan kitchen reveals its relationship to the garden. As the day closes, the interior begins to glow, the lights gathering softly within the room. Seen from the garden, the kitchen becomes lantern-like luminous against the fading light.

Blending the kitchen into the broader atmosphere of the home
Smooth surfaces and calm lines shape this kitchen’s working space, centring on an island that integrates the sink, with the hob against the wall. The palette is deliberately restrained, reducing the presence of materials typically associated with kitchens. This creates an environment that performs practically and functionally, while blending into the broader atmosphere of the home.

Breakfast room panelling
The look and feel of a room is as defining as the shape of a room and functions within it. As you walk into a kitchen and breakfast room with textured panelling, warm colours, fabrics your experience is transformed. Subtle changes in tones and tactile surfaces invites comfort and calm, creating a lived-in space where you would want to pause and linger.

Family TV room.
Clad in acoustic panelling and layered in tones of dark brown and deep purple, with richly coloured accent fabrics. Positioned on the darker north side of the house, it embraces the low light to create an intimate, cocooning atmosphere. A large sliding door forms the threshold between this dark, enveloping space and the bright hallway - the experience of each heightened through contrast.

Banded hall of tiles.
We created this hall eight different coloured zellige tiles, wrapping the floors walls and ceilings in a series of bands. LED strips of light create further lines while drawing out the glaze variations and subtle irregularities of each tile. Mirrors are positioned to multiply the space.

We’re thrilled to share that Hebron House has been shortlisted for the RIBA London Awards 2026.
This is a project we’re particularly proud of - one that carefully retains the building’s historic charm while integrating modern interventions to improve functionality and energy performance.

extension as pavilion
For this Victorian extension, we set out to create a pavilion—an object that stands freely within the garden, yet integral to the house, extending the kitchen and living spaces. Dark brown brick, a green roof, and oak doors introduce a new palette, set against the backdrop of the original London yellow stock brickwork.

stair shaped by light
Looking at one of our favourite stairs from another angle, the plastered surfaces appear carved and sculpted. Although the paint colour is the same throughout, the shifting light reveals a full range of whites from cool to warm. The space is lit by two windows: a triangular opening overlooking the garden and another set higher over the stair.

reimagining through recombining
A sensitive retrofit that treats the building’s history as an active participant in its renewal. Here new slate treads are introduced as new elements ontop of a 1980’s concrete stair. This was done to reduce the steepness of the stair, while keeping what’s already there – arriving at something new through the combination of new and old.

From the entry hall, where the original stair is retained but given new balusters, a small cloakroom with a WC is revealed. Transitions between one space and another are important for us - a choreography of spatial sequences throughout the house, set in a rhythm of contemporary interventions with the building’s history.
