Artists, and people at large, around the world are wrestling with love, purity and loss in trying times. New York-based label and publishing house @redexpanse tapped into the global underground, calling on 21 artists to visualize their answers in the form of ‘Inocentes,’ a major group show last month. Curated by Red Expanse’s Jo “22” Frias (@22note ), alongside @pablojomaron of @_red_lebanese_ and @alienlibros ’ Javier Salomón, with support from @carharttwip_usa , the show explored the role of innocence in the face of violence, and hope that the future might still belong to those willing to take matters into their own hands. Gathering together portraits of my family and environment. The text, written by my mother, in French, is translated into Spanish and English. It describes the journey I have embarked upon as a person and as an artist — carrying both french and chilean family heritages — traces of exile, resistance, ideals of the past and love stories over the years. First too bashful, I tried to preserve the images of the one I loved with over-printing and wax, hiding and masking them to the world. Slowly assuming my role and my responsibility I want to show them now fully illuminated — as they are. The photographic medium is my way to communicate with them but also to try to express these intangible poetic feelings and desires I have. By opening this book you open a space of intimacy, my models were my first audience, now shared with the world. Like my work and collaborations, this book carries a unifying and international dimension. Photos have been taken on the road I choose, over borders. It has been designed in Bangkok, produced in Mexico by Javier Salomón in a very artisanal way. 🆃🆁🅴🅴 🅾🅵 🅻🅸🅵🅴 reúne pinturas, collages, fotografías e imágenes de referencia extraídas del entorno cotidiano de Hank Reavis en el estado de Washington. Recopiladas en un solo volumen, las obras forman un retrato sereno y cohesivo de una práctica moldeada por el lugar, la memoria y la intersección entre la experiencia personal y colectiva. Junto a la observación directa, las imágenes se recolectan de archivos digitales como Google Street View y rincones olvidados de internet, donde fragmentos de lo familiar se preservan, circulan y se transforman gradualmente con el tiempo. El libro también ofrece una mirada al proceso de Reavis, presentando imágenes de origen y referencias no utilizadas que reflejan el proceso de "sala de montaje" del proyecto, mostrando cómo las imágenes se recopilan, editan y destilan en las obras finales.
