32 Years of Resistance : Zapatista anniversary at
Caracol Oventik, Chiapas, MX
This is considered the 2nd caracol under the Zapatistas just outside of San Cristobal. It’s a large piece of Indigenous land, in the Chiapas highlands - full of greenery and in this case heavy, winter fog that fills the land making it difficult to see those just a few feet in front of you.
In the evening hours, closer to midnight, the Zapatista militants, young men and women, march their way down the steep, dark, foggy hills of the caracol as the rain pours, tapping their wooden batons in unison echoing through the fields. The militants then form a circle around the court and stage area as they await the arrival of Zapatista elders and Subcomandante Insurgente Moises - who would be sharing words to bring in the anniversary. At the end of the speeches, the fireworks began to screech, echo and light up the night sky honoring the 32 years of resistance & rebellion.
Thank you to everyone who allowed me to snap a photo of them and their loved ones last night at @frankscustomhydraulics super hop. I spent the majority of the night photographing couples of all ages. These are a few of those photos alongside some portraits of their tattooed partners.
Part 2 coming soon

San Judas Tadeo • Templo San Hipólito, CDMX 4/28
Every 28th of the month hundreds / thousands travel to the church in honor of San Judas Tadeo, patron saint of impossible cases and lost causes. Followers travel from all over the state with statues, candles and attire in honor to ask for a miracle, protection, health, wealth and stability at the very least.
Most of the people photographed have traveled into the city every month on the 28th for the last 25 years. Some are no longer asking for miracles but thanking the saint for everything they’ve received.
Big shoutout to @gustavograf_ 💯

Last year during WrestleMania week, GCW & Joey Janela held Spring Break 9 at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas.
The sold out venue was filled with a cross-generational crowd as they awaited Sabu’s “final match”. Sabu known for his career in ECW, FMW, TNA & WWE, was no stranger to the “no rope - barbed wire” extreme match. This one was special as it was seen as a retirement match & coincidentally would be his final match at the age of 60. While a difficult & emotional match to watch, Sabu was cheered by the hundreds, thousands in attendance.
Sabu passed a few weeks later.

To be in a place so deeply rooted in Indigenous resistance, care, and sovereignty is an honor to carry with humility. Los Caracoles aren’t a destination, they are landscapes, teachings of what it means to build community on your own terms, to protect culture, and to sustain a future grounded in collective dignity and responsibility.
Capturing moments with the youth—through photos, stories, and shared time. More than memories, they are acts of documentation, of honoring sacred mother tongues, of witnessing joy, creativity, and continuity. These moments hold weight. They remind us that nothing here is to be taken for granted.
We owe our children everything- safety, protection, education, health, infrastructure, autonomy, love, and care. Investing in the future is investing in them.

Hundreds of people traveled to San Cristobal for the annual Zapatista conference. Of those hundreds, at least 500 of them in attendance were Indigenous people from the Zapatista caracoles. Committed to the cause, to hear and learn from the speakers featured this year.
The room filled quickly and some of those people in attendance sat outside to hear the presentations over the speakers or looked through windows & doorways.
Slide 4 : La despedida de Capitán Marcos (fka subcomandante) & Subcomandante Insurgente Moises, CIDECI en San Cristobal De Las Casas 12/30/26
