EURYDICE opens tonight at
@statetheatrecentre , six years since we last performed it in Perth. It’s long road, full of good people. Here’s the quick history.
We made EURYDICE as a sister show to ORPHEUS. We wrote it in the winter of 2018 into the new year of 2019 and dove into rehearsal with our dearest pals
@caseyjayandrews and
@serenamanteghi . The show opened at
@holdenstreettheatres at
@adlfringe in a gorgeous secret garden. It was 40mins too long, it was scrappy and beautiful. I won Best Theatre that year.
Then we toured it with
@yoshikacolwell and
@lousingssongs at the helm, to Sydney and Brisbane. Back to Adelaide in 2020 before COVID closed the doors on its future touring.
We did one sneaky show in London at our much loved and much missed
@streathamspace as a super group. And then nothing…til now.
And we’re over the moon that these words and these songs and this story is about to be back out in the world. 3 days in Perth, then a month in Adelaide. All with the wonderful
@meganshandley8 at the helm.
So often folks will watch another of our shows and say ‘Yeah, that as great, loved it…but when are you bringing EURYDICE back?’
Well…now.
EURYDICE. Let’s have it.
WE NEED TO LET GO OF THE STORIES WE THINK DEFINE US.
