SELENE - NEW ZEALAND with @_megandrury_ My gosh. A month in these places is such a joy. We’re nearing the end. We head to Hawkes Bay tomorrow (Sold Out), then Auckland at @basementspace 16-18 April, and finally to @themeteortheatre in Hamilton on the 19th. Some big drives, some gorgeous pals, some beautiful places and heaps of brilliant shows. Aotearoa you spoil us. Hug love to doing it all with @amulledwhine - 7 years of working together. Probs more shouting to be done about that soon. For now, tell your pals and your mates if they’re nearby. And we got more hills to drive over, and more bodies of water to go look at. Huge thanks for having us @littleandromedachch , @festivalofcolour , @teatamirawhakatipu , @regentdunedin , @boathousenelson , Community Cinema in Golden Bay, @bats_theatre , @wairarapaeventscentre . And on to @toitoivenues , @basementspace and @themeteortheatre . Love love love. Xx Also…the last pic…if you know you know…you know?

SELENE is our brand new show about the goddess and the dark side of the moon. And it’s just been extended for a final week at @adlfringe . It’s made with and told by the extraordinary @_megandrury_ , and now runs until 21st March at 9.30pm at @the.courtyard.of.curiosities . We’re super proud of it, and have been loving welcoming so many people into the world of the show. There’s a review quote in this video which says ‘Above all SELENE is a story of hope.’ And hope is a pretty powerful thing. We’re damn proud of that, too. Come catch it in Adelaide whilst you, if you’re here. And then we head on to New Zealand, then back to Aus, and then finally back home to the UK. - Made in co-production with @theatre41york back in the UK Presented in Adelaide by @joannehartstonepresents Stage Managed by @roshanconn Produced for W&G by @andymckeane and @jolyblack Written by @alexandergwright with a cinematic synth score by @philclivegrainger Video by the very brilliant @mondo_creative_au #theatre #spokenword #storytelling #adlfringe #adelaide

Here’s a little snippet from a sound check yesterday in our tech rehearsal. IN ANY CASE IN ANY CASE IN ANY CASE THERE IS GRACE This song sits in both EURYDICE and THE GODS THE GODS THE GODS. It’s a Tiresias song. And who doesn’t love a blind prophet. Xx

A little photo dump of the last three days… We’re bumping in / getting in / setting up for ORPHEUS and EURYDICE in the stunning @statelibrarysa , as part of @the.courtyard.of.curiosities programme for @adlfringe . There is a lot of stuff going on, a huge and wonderful amount of people pulling something into reality. There’s a lot of road cases, a lot of string parts, a lot of radio packs, a lot of books. We are working with a massive and brilliant team. Phil and I (alex) are spending a lot of time just wandering around and looking at it all happen - from our W&G team, from the venue’s team, from the library’s team. A lot has happened in three days. And there’s 5 more days til we open. Tasty Tasty Tasty. Also, we forgot it was Valentine’s Day yesterday. These shows are love stories. And tragedies. And also stories about what might be different next time. My favourite line in HadesTown goes something like ‘It’s an old song, it’s a sad song, but we choose to sing it again in the hope it might turn out this time’ - and I think that’s one of the best articulations of myth I’ve ever heard. To choose to tell the story again. To hope it might turn out differently. There’ll be more photos, I’m sure. Enjoy the multiple versions of Time After Time. Give us a shout if we’ll see you at the opening next week. Big love, as ever, from all of us. Xx

Wanna play spot the difference? ORPHEUS is 10 years old this year. When we first made the show we had booked it in the garden of a cheese shop, a brewery, a village hall, a little furniture shop and our mate’s pub. And that was it. That was the big plan for the back end of August 2016. Now we’ve got hella big plans for the next 10 years. We’re adding a string quartet and a choir for @adlfringe and building a custom venue in one of the most beautiful libraries in the world with @the.courtyard.of.curiosities . Here’s the pics. Some from a little run in an old empty Woolworths with @theatredeli in Sheffield by @benporteryork , a few weeks after the show started in the cheese shop garden. Then some from last week at @statetheatrecentre in Perth by Hien at @afternoonfilms , perhaps the last intimate shows we’ll ever do! Reckon you can guess which is which? This is one special show. It’s taken us round the world. Changed our lives in lots of ways. But the story stays the same - these big old myths that have so much in them. We love it. And we can’t wait for the next phase of its journey. Damn proud of the whole ORPHEUS team. A pleasure to be working with you all! @parrotoxproductions @joannehartstone @andymckeane @jolyblack @the.courtyard.of.curiosities @brittplummerartist @losnikos @tom_figgins_music @capitano.spartalis Michael Toisuta and Mark Oakley See you in the Library with a string quartet. Loads of love from us, Al & Phil, always. Xx

EURYDICE burst back into shows for the first time in 6 years. And what a joyful way to start. Three gorgeous nights in the beautiful courtyard at the @statetheatrecentre in Perth for @fringeworldperth . And now to @adlfringe with @the.courtyard.of.curiosities in the stunning @statelibrarysa ’s Mortlock Wing. WITH A STRING QUARTET. Come check our @philclivegrainger and @meganshandley8 rip up and rewrite an ancient myth. ‘We need to let go on the stories with think define us’ - ‘Beautifully performed…reminds you of the power of simple, well-told stories.’ - FringeFeed ‘Shandley is an engaging storyteller and effortless singer, and Grainger has a disarming stage presence and a soaring tenor to die for.’ - ArtsHub - And these wonderful photos are by the wonderful @tenaeelisephotography

EURYDICE opens tonight at @statetheatrecentre , six years since we last performed it in Perth. It’s long road, full of good people. Here’s the quick history. We made EURYDICE as a sister show to ORPHEUS. We wrote it in the winter of 2018 into the new year of 2019 and dove into rehearsal with our dearest pals @caseyjayandrews and @serenamanteghi . The show opened at @holdenstreettheatres at @adlfringe in a gorgeous secret garden. It was 40mins too long, it was scrappy and beautiful. I won Best Theatre that year. Then we toured it with @yoshikacolwell and @lousingssongs at the helm, to Sydney and Brisbane. Back to Adelaide in 2020 before COVID closed the doors on its future touring. We did one sneaky show in London at our much loved and much missed @streathamspace as a super group. And then nothing…til now. And we’re over the moon that these words and these songs and this story is about to be back out in the world. 3 days in Perth, then a month in Adelaide. All with the wonderful @meganshandley8 at the helm. So often folks will watch another of our shows and say ‘Yeah, that as great, loved it…but when are you bringing EURYDICE back?’ Well…now. EURYDICE. Let’s have it. WE NEED TO LET GO OF THE STORIES WE THINK DEFINE US. - Pic 1 - Al, Phil, Casey & Serena trying to do a photoshoot Pic 2 - The beautiful sunken garden where the shot premiered in 2019 Pic 3 - Yoshi at Sydney Fringe in 2019 Pic 4 + 5 - Yoshi and Phil at Streatham just after Covid Pic 6 - Megan Shandley, who opens in the show tonight
